Characters: Sara, Soma Content: Yeah, worst choice of a pseudonym ever. Setting: The airship dock outside of Antrim Time: After this thread. Warnings: Copious amounts of "oh crap"?
There was a white haired man in a long coat around Antrim, but he wasn't the one Sara was looking for. Antrim...well, Soma didn't know what to make of Antrim. Serenity's crew was understandably wary of the place, and he had heard stories from some of them about running into monsters or seeing horrifying sights that no one else could see.
It was, honestly, a little intriguing. Against his better judgment, he went down to the edge of Antrim, doing his best to resist the urge to go into the town itself. Briefly, he thought he saw people in the fog, but wasn't close enough to tell, and the figures would just turn around and walk deeper in.
One thing he didn't like about Antrim, however, was how quiet it was. Usually, the sounds of animals and monsters could be heard, but around here, there was nothing but dead silence.
She couldn't see for sure. The fog covering the town was drifting too close. But if it was-- she had to go see. Sara ran closer, neglecting her usual caution.
Soma turned around to see a girl running towards him. He didn't recognize her, so she must have come from one of the other airships he saw at the docks. Shaking his head, he replied, "Sorry, you've got the wrong person."
When he turned around, she stopped right in the middle of her run. She looked away from the unfamiliar face, head racing. "...right. Sorry. I do have the wrong person."
That was... part of it. "Right." She looked back up at him, defaulting to a blank expression. "I thought you were the wrong person. ...Are you here because of the distress call, too?"
"...I was surprised," she admitted. "I didn't think anyone else would be here. It's dangerous, especially on Long Night, and there's been no sign of that girl."
Soma didn't think that anyone would expect a person, much less a lone little girl, would be in Antrim period. That was why Serenity had chosen to hide out here, after all. He had listened to the radio transmission, having persuaded the blue haired radio ops to let him hear it, and there was something about it that struck Soma as odd, though he couldn't place his finger on it.
"..." That was a good question. She hadn't exactly expected it, but for years now, she'd been on edge, afraid that he would appear at any moment. And then when she'd seen him in the town...
She wasn't sure? Then again, there was definitely something about this town that was off. Soma could see it playing on people's minds. Hell, it was even playing on his own.
She looked away. "I hope so," she said. After another pause, she awkwardly offered up, "I'm Sara. Sara W--" Still? "Sara Cruz. I'm a pilot from the Convoy."
At the mention of his name, Sara's eyes widened and she stepped back. This had most definitely not been something she'd planned for. But it was just a coincidence, right? So it wouldn't be a problem. Right. It could be worse.
He had guessed that she was also in some kind of awe over the shared surname. Soma certainly knew he was. He did entertain the thought that maybe they were related, albeit distantly. If she did have a brother that resembled him, it was possible.
Sara froze up. If this person saw her brother, he certainly wouldn't connect it to her. He'd surely recognize the man, and the odds of anyone surviving an encounter with him, besides whoever he was with right now...
"...Don't. Don't worry about it. ...thank you, though."

That never meant anything good.

What.
As far as Soma knew, there was nobody in his family with the name Sara.
...must be some other Cruz clan then. Yeah, that's it.
"I'm Soma Cruz. I'm a passenger on Serenity."
