Content: Hisoka hears that Havoc has been injured in a fight and goes to visit him.
Setting: The Amestris infirmary.
Time: Backdated to the day Hisoka arrived in Bydan, on a brief leave from Serenity.

"A dragon..." murmured Hisoka. "Well! So it seems he's got other creatures at his beck and call besides the Kocho!"

"Chimeras, huh?" he added.

"I started thinking about that vicious birdie and what it might actually be, after I left the Amestris. I had referred to it as a chimera when I was talking to Admiral Bradley and Commander Mustang, but I just meant it in a general dictionary definition sort of way, you know, as a mythical animal that has the appearance of being jumbled together out of spare parts from other creatures. But when I said that, I could feel a kind of...silence surrounding that word, as though it had a significance to those two that it didn't have to me."

"And today my father and I met Muraki in the forest. I had gone out there to take another look at a rather large crater that resulted from Muraki accidentally blowing up his underground laboratory seven and a half years ago."

"I'd been to the site before; I discovered it when I was fourteen, but I didn't know then what it was. I didn't make the connection until this last summer, when I received a letter from my father, in response to my questions about Muraki's history. He wrote that he had seen the Kocho in the forest a number of times during the year before the explosion, but never again afterwords. He had never seen Muraki again afterwards, either."

"So I guess my father had figured it out, and was trying to warn me to be careful. When I arrived in Bydan today, I gave my family the slip and went to the crater. I knew I was right when Muraki showed up shortly after I did." He chuckled. "And then my father turned up, too."

"We had quite a conversation, Muraki and my father and I. Muraki summoned the Kocho, 'in case things got tense,' as he said. My father beat me to the punch and asked Muraki, for the sake of their former friendship, to tell him about the creature. Muraki freely admitted that he had created it, 'with science and with magic.'"
