It had been since Ieyasu had entered the Amestris, but still he couldn't help but be taken by the sheer size of this vessel. The Tokugawa had their own ships, sure, but they were mostly for combat or transport purposes and comparing them to this ship made them seem like nothing but ants.

Truly, this is indeed a remarkable ship... he thought to himself as he wandered down the hallways. He wasn't that all used to the layout yet, which was why he was taking the time (since he was free now) to go around and commit the ship's floorplan into his head. His spirits had been a bit low since the dokuganryu and his migime had left, but Ieyasu was certain that he could handle this by himself. It was sad that they had to leave, but perhaps that was for the best; now it was just up to him to uphold the name of the private militia forces in Vohemar.

...Oh, was that a new crew member? Not exactly her type, but still. Angelina smirked to herself before moving closer to find out who he was. "I haven't seen you around before. Are you a new crew member?"

Ieyasu perked up at the voice that came from nearby, and he turned around to blink at the strange lady in red for a few moments before breaking into a smile that made him look a lot younger than his (already young) age.

"Yes, I was assigned here only recently!" he returned with a notable tone of eagerness in his voice. "Tokugawa Ieyasu, madam. I'll be working here as a Strategist!" Ieyasu for the most part probably did look a bit too young for a job like that, but then did take over a military clan at the age of fifteen.

How old was he? Sixteen? There was no way he was older than that. Ann nodded in return, still smiling slightly. "I'm Angelina Durless, a passenger. How did one your age become a strategist?" she asked.

Oh, a passenger! Ieyasu's face lit up a bit more at that, looking much more eager now while he very politely answered her questions with manners that hardly showed his young age.

"I am actually the head of my family's clan, madam," he replied with a smile. "You'll know them as the Tokugawa - they're the private militia force put in charge of defending Trewe. I inherited it when I was fifteen." Three years since then, and already so much had happened... sometimes, Ieyasu himself couldn't believe about the time that had already passed since that day.

"I've only heard of them in passing. Vohemaro clans aren't exactly the topics Ivonians discuss, unless it's in jest," Ann explained. "I, however, have no such prejudice when it comes to such things." Particularly something as intriguing as a fifteen-year-old leader. "Please, tell me more, if you can."

Ah, so she was from Ivona! That made things all the more interesting, indeed. Ieyasu himself was half-Ivonian, but he never had a chance to see his mother's nation at all - he had been in Vohemar due to his father's heritage. Really, this only made him all the more eager.

Nodding, Ieyasu gladly told the other more. "Every major city in Vohemar has their own private militia force that is in charge of it. Bydan here has the Date clan-" It really was too bad he didn't get a chance to meet the dokuganryu before he left... "-and my clan, the Tokugawa is in charge of Trewe. We're usually left to our own devices at times, but during times of conflict our services are call upon in order to fight or to protect the territory of the city. Sometimes we're even called to battle in some of the skirmishes across the Badlands." While it wasn't exactly something that Ieyasu himself liked, he knew it was necessary. Still, he was hoping that one day battles like that wouldn't be needed.

"I see. And the Vohemaro government pays you for this?" she asked. "Or is it volunteers only?"

"The government, madam," he replied, "It's a contract that we have with them for a good while already since the time of my ancestors." Not that the government actually paid them... much nowadays, but at least that aside they were guaranteed their own security as fellow citizens of Vohemar. And while it wasn't the best at all, that was the best Ieyasu supposed he could ask for in times like these.

"Your ancestors?" The Vohemaro government had been using contracted mercenaries for that long? Weren't they supposed to be beyond that, if the gossip was true?

Ieyasu nodded back in return. "I'm not clear on the whole story myself, but it's been an arrangement that's been going on for a long time already." Many details had been since lost in time, but the young leader did know the gist, at least. "I'm afraid I can't tell you much though, since most of the details were lost to me as well." The fact that his father got assassinated didn't help much on that either.

Ann frowned. It was a shame when information was lost like that. "I see," she murmured. "Well, I hope you learn more about your history...I never caught your rank, I'm sorry."

"Ah, I have no official rank," the younger man replied, a sheepish look crossing his face as he scratched the back of his head somewhat awkwardly. "Please, just call me Ieyasu. Being called with a title makes me feel even older."

"Ieyasu, then." Ann nodded. "If you'll excuse me, I am expecting a message from my niece. I'll see you around, Ieyasu."

"Oh! Well then, I shan't hold you up, madam," he replied quickly, making way to the side for the other to pass through. "I'll see you around then!"
