Shasata was certainly quite the old sight for Isshin - having lived here for a bit during his youth, it was easy enough to see just how much things had changed in the last two decades that he wasn't here. Back then things weren't certainly as lively as it was now, that was for sure.

But that aside, things had been a bit more hectic now ever since Hakkai and Ryuuken and both taken their leave from the ship. Isshin was quite sad to see Ryuuken leaving after the time he had spent together working from the Silvana to here, but he knew that the man only left because he had his reasons. He could respect that much, at the very least. But at least there was still Estelle-chan, who did look a bit down for the past few days...

"Gooooooooooood Evening, Estelle-chan!" the man greeted, enthusiastic as always as he burst into the room, a box in hand. "How are things in the infirmary?" Not that he didn't know of course, but getting the young doctor to think about other things was always much better than having her dwelling on what was making her make such a sorrowful face. Young girls like her shouldn't have to make such faces!

The sound of Isshin's voice instantly brightened Estelle up, but even though she graced him with a greeting smile, it didn't reach her eyes. "Good evening, Dr. Kurosaki. Things are all right... it's been very quiet with half of the crew off of the ship. Oh, and I noticed we were low on a few bandages." She punctuated her sentence with a lift of the hand currently wrapped around two rolls of gauze.

Despite the cloud hovering over her head, she was always grateful for his presence. She looked up to and respected him too much to let herself ruin his day with her melancholy mindset, so feeling it was rude to keep restocking, Estelle set the materials down on the counter and faced him.

It was pretty obvious to Isshin that Estelle look very much down in the dumps, but the man just had something to fix that right back up.

"Well, that's good to know!" the elder doctor returned with a grin as he made his way towards the tables with the box in his hands. "I'll go to town to get the bandages tomorrow - who knows when we'll need them soon enough!" Especially with the crew of Serenity like this; they were really quite the rowdy people, alright. Isshin himself was used to it at least, though he did wonder how Estelle seemed to be holding up. She hadn't really been quite herself ever since Lowell-san left the ship...

Enough about that. What he had to do was to bring Estelle-chan's spirits back up, and hopefully this would do the trick. Isshin smiled as he placed the box onto the table, looking back at her as he spoke. "I was around town just now and I saw this, and I'd thought you would like it so I go it for you!" And saying that he opened the box to reveal a rather nicely made cake, just big enough for both of them to share and eat.

The man kept his grin as he looked down to the cake and then back to Estelle, a chirp in his voice as he spoke. "One of the best cakes you could ever find in Reial, right here! I got it so that we could share it together!"

Estelle had been ready to open her mouth and tell him that there was no need to head into town; she could do it herself, and the distraction would've been appreciated. But she fell quiet, a curious look passing over her pretty face as Isshin drew her attention to the box he'd carried in. In all honesty, though she'd seen the box, she hadn't quite wondered what the contents of it were, figuring it probably wasn't for her anyway. Curious as she normally was, it simply hadn't been important.

The very second he opened the top, her body froze in place, and words failed her temporarily. He bought it for her? For them to share? All of Estelle's worries swirled down an invisible drain as she clasped both hands together. "I..." Those sea green eyes of hers, filled with awe and gratitude this time around, traveled up to his grinning face. "I don't know what to say."

So she picked the most obvious thing, smiling a real smile for the first time that day.

"Thank you! But you really didn't have to..." The girl went a little pink. "U-Um, but please don't take that the wrong way! I'm really very grateful. It looks delicious."

Ah, looks like this had paid off well. Isshin only beamed at Estelle's response, returning her joy with his own as he fully opened the box and laid out the delicious chocolate cake that he had gotten earlier.

"Of course I had to, you were looking so down!" the man returned with nothing but warmth in his voice. "And nothing ever gets people feeling good than some good old delicious chocolate cake!"

From seemingly nowhere as well the elder doctor whipped out two paper plates with accompanying forks that he got from the kitchen on the way over, and he passed one set over to Estelle with a grin. "Its already been sliced so feel free to take a slice for yourself and dig in! There's lots to go for both of us~" A whole lot, indeed.

Beaming back, the smaller girl took the plate and fork in both her hands, staring down at the cake as though she expected a slice to leap out of the box and onto her plate without her doing anything. Realizing that wasn't how it worked, Estelle blinked and rearranged her utensils next to the cake to scoop up a slice.

"I'm... I'm sorry," she apologized out of the blue, the smile slipping from her face as she processed his words. "I didn't mean to worry you. I've... I've had a lot on my mind, and I had no idea it was bothering anyone else..." Forking, forking -- ah, mission get cake on plate accomplished.

"So this is very kind of you, Dr. Kurosaki." A glance back up. "Thank you."

Isshin watched as Estelle tried to get a slice of cake out onto her plate, though he perked up when she spoke her words and merely smiled back in return.

"Oh, its nothing at all!" he went with a quiet chuckle. "As long as you feel better now, that's the most important bit. Now stop feeling sorry and enjoy that delicious cake! I made sure to choose the tastiest one for you now, you know!" Saying that, the elder man started to help himself to a slice as well - it had been a good while since he had cake himself, and it really looked quite delicious.

That certainly brightened up her face. "You're right... I do need to stop feeling sorry for myself. I can't change the past, and it's time for me to move on," Estelle told him resolutely, twirling her fork to the side in order to slide a small piece off her slice. Yes, he'd made a good point, harsh as it might have seemed. What would Yuri have thought of her, moping around like that? He would've wanted her to go on with her life; she was sure of it.

Smiling as soon as Isshin had fetched his own slice of cake, she held up her fork, almost like a toast. "Here's to the tastiest cake in Reial!" And with that, the princess swallowed her bite, chewing for all of two seconds before her entire body slackened with pleasure at the taste.

"Oh, this is amazing!" she reported aloud as soon as her mouth wasn't full of delicious chocolate cake.

Isshin nodded in response to Estelle words, a bright smile on his face. "There's still a bright future ahead of you! Don't give up so easily because of one little setback - I'm sure that something better will come around soon." As much as trying to bear sadness upon oneself was a nice and cool thing to do, they were still youths with a life ahead of them - these kind of things were best left to the adults to shoulder.

He broke out from his thoughts when Estelle held up her fork, and Isshin did likewise, grinning as he did so and chuckling to her words before echoing them. "The tastiest cake in Reial!" Saying that, he took a bit into his mouth as well, marvelling at its most wonderful taste; it had been years since he had the chance to eat this, and the taste was just as good as he remembered, if not better.

The younger girl's exclaimation made Isshin beam, and the man was quite pleased to know that she liked it. "If you like it, then feel free to help yourself to more! This cake is just for the two of us, after all!" And such a delicious cake it was indeed.
