Unfortunately for the intrepid hero, there was a certain Dastardly Genius™ who was walking rather serenely around the ship as though nothing bad was happening at all, with a look of great interest on his face at the ghostly goings on. He could see ghosts, after all. It hadn't always been that way, though. It was, as he'd discovered, a recent development probably linked to self experimentation with Mana.

Unfortunately for him and his remaining shreds of sanity, he was so deeply absorbed in watching the curious antics of every ghost, spook and spirit that crossed his path that he hadn't noticed Othar at all. Somehow. When he looked back on the situation, he'd never understand how.

For his part, Othar was being as stealthy as possible. ...Which meant he was making quite a bit of noise anyway, but of course when he saw a fellow crew-mate, he was very tempted to bound into the most heroic lighting he good find and exclaim his name and position very loudly as was his wont, but something staid his bound.

The back of this crew-mate looked suspiciously familiar... but he could worry about that later, for unless he was much mistaken, said crew-mate was about to be pounced upon by a rather demonic looking ghost! (Actually, it was a heavily shaded pea plant, but how was Othar to know it wasn't a ghostly pea plant?)

"Have no fear!" he exclaimed, firing a shot from his gun at the evil plant that was looming close to the doctor's head. "Your plight has not gone unnoticed by Othar Trygvassen, GENTLEMAN ADVENTURER!"

Hojo froze at the gunshot, narrowed his eyes when it missed... and then turned around, knowing exactly who the culprit was. Well, obviously, anyway. It wasn't difficult to guess when he announced his name and so-called reputation with enough volume to rival an air-raid siren.

"Oddly," he started, sounding very much like he found Othar very trying and exceptionally simple, "I didn't have any fear before a certain imbecile took it upon himself to shoot at me."

He didn't look impressed. That said, if Othar incorrectly interpreted his nonchalance as fear, there was little chance of him registering that.

"You!" Othar's normal gift of verbosity and hyperbole left him for a moment, and he simply stood there, fuming, as he gazed on the man who, to his mind, anyway, was the most dangerously vile Spark he had so far uncovered on this ship!

...He was also the only Spark he'd so far uncovered, but he certainly wasn't about to admit that.

After a few seconds, Othar's voice returned to him, and he grimaced, leveling his gun at the mad scientist. "I knew these ghosts were the work of an evil genius! But I should have guessed that you were the diabolical fiend behind this!"
