So how the heck did I miss this, huh :'| bustybentobabe September 10 2010, 17:46:32 UTC
Fortunately for Roy, she hadn't. It was too warm for a coat, never mind her favorite fur coat, but she was still wearing one of those sleek black dresses she was known for. Her accessorizing tastes hadn't changed much, either: simple earrings, black choker, a small hat canted to one side. This one had a small flourish of feathers pinned to the side for decoration. Her bangs were covering one eye, exposing her darker, warmer eye to the world. No need for anyone to suspect she was up to no good. Not yet, at any rate ( ... )

That was their usual modus operandi: spotting each other, but making no indication whatsoever that they knew each other. As soon as he had located Angel, Roy immediately went off to order his own drink and fetch it before slipping into the booth she was seated at. When he spoke to her, it was with eyes elsewhere and his lips hovering over the rim of his glass.

"Been a while, hasn't it?"

Warm greetings could come later, once they were both sure the area was safe.

"Too long for my tastes," she agreed. The corner of her mouth, on the side of her face away from the rest of the tavern, curled in a small smirk.

She set her glass down and began lightly tapping a finger against the rim, as if out of idle habit. Except the woman possessed no such habit. Stranger still, she was doing this with her left hand when she was actually right-handed.

It was to signal for his attention. Their meeting spot was momentarily compromised. If his eyes followed the direction that her tapping finger was pointing, he would eventually see a local officer sitting at the bar, uniform half-hidden by a long jacket. Presumably, the man was taking a break while on duty, and doing a poor job of hiding this fact. It was also safe to assume he wouldn't stick around very long. The longer he was here, the higher the risk of getting caught.

In the meantime, they would just need to make idle conversation. "So, are you hungry?"

And while he caught it perfectly, Roy made no outward indication that he had. He let his words speak for him instead.

"Quite, actually. I do wonder, though, what's worth ordering here... would you know?"
