It was already late afternoon, a long time after the third round of the tournament should have started, and the MC hadn’t shown up yet. The audience was getting antsy; it was hot, and they hadn’t paid the entry fee just to sit here for an hour without any action. Doubtlessly, the competitors were getting restless, as well...
Just when the match officials were about to leave to discuss a replacement, a man dressed in a red outfit that seemed to be quite pirate-inspired arrived in the MC box, looking very disheveled.
“That blasted crocodile!” he yelled, before calming down a bit and adjusting the mic in his good hand (the other one was a hook). “Ahem. Forgive me for my tardiness, ladies and gentlemen-but I’m quite sure the show we have for you this afternoon will certainly make up for it! We have a group of spectacular fighters who have made it to the semifinals, and it certainly wasn’t easy getting there!”
The crowd, re-energized by the fact that the competition was finally starting, let out a cheer that was quite possibly louder than the cheers for the previous rounds.
“Only four contestants will reach the final round, and it’s anybody’s guess as to who they’ll be! It’s too late to place your bets, because the semifinal round of the Hanami Festival Tournament begins now!"
