While Lee was vastly impatient, he knew the value of waiting when it came to training. He did not want to risk injury, and so he had settled for the 1,900 kilogram weights, feeling excited and anxious to try them out. He would wait until he returned to the ship, of course, and for the entire festival he had held his new weights close to him, eager and impatient.
Then he had spotted the weapons boutique, and rushed inside, eagerly looking at everything in the shop. Now, with his newest purchase held against his chest along with his weights, Lee was just looking for a place to rest and enjoy the evening, when he spotted the most beautiful sight he ever beheld and gasped, staring up at the sky as thin tendrils of silver light floated towards the sky. "Sugoi," he murmured, completely captivated by the display.

It was...beautiful. Optimus had never seen anything like it, not even on Cybertron. His optic sensors took in everything they could, recording in his memory banks to watch again later.
Still driving slowly through the festival, he saw the young man in green a short distance away and overheard his voice. Prime recognized it as one of his crew; a newer addition, but an enthusiastic one from what he'd seen on the Network. That meant that approaching Lee was all right. He'd have to introduce himself sooner or later, and Optimus had questions about this organic phenomenon.
The car-with-no-driver pulled up next to Lee. "That's quite a sight," he said through speakers inside the old model-T style car. "Do you know what it is?"

"It is beautiful," Lee agreed, eyes still locked on the phenomenon. "I do not know what it is though. I have never seen anything like it before. It could be magic, perhaps."

Prime was content to watch it, as well. The quiet rumbling of his engine was the only thing breaking the quiet.

He pointed dramatically when he noticed that the vehicle did not have a driver. "Wh-what--" he spluttered, but could not find a way to phrase his surprise without sound rude.

"Whoa, easy there," he said, closing the distance between them with heavy steps. Leaning over, Optimus offered a metal hand a little bigger than Lee's head, amusement in his voice. "Optimus Prime, captain of the Convoy."

"You-you are the captain of the Convoy!?!?" he blurted, blinking rapidly. After a moment of stunned staring, he quickly sat upright and bowed deeply, realising his rudeness. "Sumimasen! I did not mean to be so rude, Captain! Please forgive me! And thank you for accepting me as a part of your crew!!!" he added, since he had not yet had the chance to do so.

He struck the Nice Guy Pose, which felt oddly reassuring at that moment, and his expression relaxed into a friendly smile.

It was so weird talking to a machine, but he seemed like a very nice person--machine, Lee corrected--and Lee was honoured to be aboard his ship. Was that correct? Should he use a pronoun like 'he' when thinking about Optimus Prime? That was a bit confusing. His expression changed, the confusion clear in the furrow of his brows and the line of his mouth, but he didn't say anything about it. That might be rude.
