Setting: the Convoy's deck
Time: shortly after the Dojimas leave, before the Convoy arrives at the festival

He didn't miss them.
Them of course being his grumpy partner and his adorable daughter. Like how they so easily came back in his life (right when he got used to them not being around too), they left just as he started to get re-accustomed to them. Just like that.
No skin off his back. Once more he didn't have a boss to yell at him or, worse, hit him. He didn't have to keep an eye on a little girl in lieu of her actual father anymore, nor did he have to keep it down in the room next to theirs. Yep, this was probably for the best! For him anyway.
So what was this heavy feeling?
Couldn't be loneliness, nope. He didn't get lonely, only bored. That was probably what this was too! Just a very bad case of boredom.
It was definitely boredom (not denial, nuh uh) that set him on a search for some fresh air. Now he found himself out on the ship deck, elbows propped up as he looked over the horizon, lost in thought while simultaneously not thinking about much at all.
He certainly didn't look down. Not at all.
