Characters: Ryuuki and anyone on Serenity Content: Ryuuki's first day on the job...and he's already having problems. Setting: On the deck of Serenity Time: Day Warnings: None.
Wandering around the Serenity, Larxene strolled in confident, lithe steps towards the deck, as she usually did in the day time when people were out. She was Quartermaster, after all. That sense of importance had slowly gotten to her, and she enjoyed it for what it was worth. Being that there was nothing to do on the ship except lounging in her room, she had taken a habit to explore the vessel, hoping to find something to do. Not that she would be in the greatest of moods if spoken to. The dullness was getting to her, and no doubt she would be extremely annoyed by the end of this week. She would have taken on that pig hunt spectacle, but really, she was in no mood to hunt or mess with pigs. Her nose wriggled in distaste. She desired her own form of entertainment. How long had it been since she had fun? Toyed with someone? Made them writhe? It was boring here. Utterly and completely boring. Things had to change somehow, and without shore leave, she had no choice but to stay put

A pair of boots stepping into the puddle left by the mop startled Ryuuki. He looked up, and into the smiling face of a woman.
If Ryuuki noticed the feline quality of Larxene's expression at all, it was chased away by the time she finished talking.
What a nice person!
"Actually," He began a little sheepishly, "I'm supposed to be cleaning the deck, but...um...I don't seem to be getting it right. Do you know how to work this thing?" He shook the mop a little, sounding hopeful.
"Oh, you just sway the mop back and forth sideways~," Larxene kindly explained to him, almost in a belittling babyish way as she crossed her arms, inwardly laughing. This guy was a total dunce. She expected something like that out of him, but this was to another level that made it all just that much more luckier for her. He would be easy to fool. Especially since he was a moron on judging people as well. Now, she remembered what Marluxia had told her. Rather, chastised her with. It had been said so much she practically, and unwillingly, ingrained it in her mind without wanting to. She was aware she couldn't go as far as she had done in the past, in case she did get thrown off the ship. She wasn't that reckless, she knew very well breaking toys was not allowed...yet.
Buuut no one ever said that she couldn't get to know a person, right? Build his trust, get him to reveal things, get him to do things out of his own stupidity. It wouldn't be her fault if...he had an accident of some type

"The name's Larxene. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ryuuki," she returned in false politeness, trying hard not to remark on how "pleasurable" it really would be once she got to know him. After being denied prospective toys, a guy who was a complete sucker fell right into the palm of her hand. So easily. She didn't even have to put a false front much, if at all, since he was just...so oblivious to her intentions, unlike some others. Feeling rather contented now compared to her previous attitude, she grabbed the mop from him, smiling as she let it fall to the ground unceremoniously. The loud sound resonated around the area before the hand she had placed on his shoulder gently started to move him forward.
She waved the whole grunt work off with a flick of her other wrist, her "happy" expression never changing except for the sharpness in her now half-lidded aquatic eyes. "Why don't you take a break so we can talk?~ I'm always excited to meet new people, and if possible, make a new friend. You see, it's very lonely on this ship for me."
If he had thought about it, Ryuuki might have wondered just why she was so "lonely" in the first place. Unfortunately, one of his faults was not, as Larxene seems to think, a lack of intelligence but the tendency to not use it. At all, it seemed sometimes.
So, instead of being suspicious, he said, "I'm sorry to hear that. But, um, are you sure it's all right?" He may sometimes forget what he was supposed to do, but he would never abandon his responsibility on purpose...
"Oh, it's definitely alright~. The responsibility will be on me, anyway, as I am a Quartermaster. You have nothing to worry about," Larxene soothed gently, confident that there wasn't going to be much of a difference with the rate he was mopping. If at all. It would take hours before it gets done, and she rather waste her time with something that will benefit her in the long run. Like having him for a pet.
Without any rush, they walked along the side of the deck first, the smile on her face ever present still. "I am very curious. Just how did you find your way here?"
"Of course not, it's only for a moment~," Larxene soothed, smile on her face as she waved it off nonchalantly. The least she could do is make sure the waste of time would be worth the very little effort she was putting into this.
"As for me, oh, I just made it here once I heard about it. Left home. But I'm more concerned about yours. What happened to your brother?"
I'm smiling. Is there something horribly wrong with me? :3anonymousryuukiAugust 7 2010, 03:58:25 UTC
Unfortunately there wasn't much juicy information Larxene could draw from this since Ryuuki didn't have a very clear idea of what happened.
"I don't know. He disappeared thirteen years ago, and I haven't heard from him since." He bit his lip, "And no one will tell me where he went or why he left. They wouldn't even let me keep any pictures of him." Now all he had left of his brother was Bakuya.

"Aw, how sad, I'm sorry," Larxene cooed in "sympathy", rubbing Ryuuki's back in comfort while she inwardly rolled her eyes. That wasn't exactly much to go by. She needed to extract just a bit more information, and see if it was worth using. If not, then she didn't need words to get under someone's skin.
Guiding him through the ship as if they were old, good companions, she inquired, "And how about your parents? Are they okay with all of it? Did your brother ran away because of home life or something? That happens a lot."
Somehow, she wished she didn't say that. It hit a bit close to home when it concerned her. Not that it mattered now.
At the first mention of his parents, Ryuuki almost froze (they didn't know about him leaving home, after all), but when it became apparent that she was asking about their reaction to his brother's disappearance, he relaxed.
"I don't know. Everyone was only ever respectful and nice to him." And he wouldn't have just left without telling me.
While it was vaguely noticeable, Larxene did notice the slight tension Ryuuki had when she had mentioned his parents. It was interesting, in comparison to all she heard so far, at least, and deserved a little bit more prying into. Nodding to the answer, though not really impressed with it, she gave a great dramatic sigh for the poor guy's problem. "There had to be a reason behind it then. I'm surprised your parents would let go of you, though, considering what happened to your older brother. You would think they wouldn't allow the other to leave..."
She trailed that off, waiting to see what the respond would be as she stared forward.
He shrugged, "They wouldn't care." He had made doubly sure of that. The only reason they'd come after him was because he had taken Bakuya with him. But he couldn't very well have left it behind.
"They wouldn't care? Why wouldn't they?" Larxene inquired in false softness, her mind now focusing on that revelation in particular. Hopefully, it won't come to another dead end. While she shouldn't be talking considering her own history, it wasn't her she was going to break apart. Emotional attachments or home life was all she needed if she got out of him the exact information she wanted.
"Are you overshadowed by your brother? Or is it something else?"
"That's not it at all. They just never wanted me in the first place." It didn't bother him as much now, as long as Seien wanted him, then it was all right. "Seien, my brother, he's the best big brother ever."

"My name is Ryuuki, I'm new here." He tilted his head to one side, "What about you? What's your name?"

He smiled.
"Larxene, what about your family?"
