It was a good thing that not much damage had happened with this whole thing. Though he had been mostly out of the action until the end, he had been out there long enough to know how dangerous it was. To be honest, it was almost a miracle that the ship had managed to get out without much damage from everything that had happened. Despite their tendency to be in the worse situations ever, they did have their fair share of good fortune.

Well, at least it was all over with now. Fortunately not too many people got hurt in this, but there was still a fair amount of work to be done. Being one of the more experienced doctors in the crew, Isshin had taken up the task of patching up the more seriously injured ones - such as one Kiryuu Karou, who he supposed had woken up by now.

Stepping into the infirmary proper, the man made his way towards where she was, a smile on his face as he greeted the girl. "Hello, Karou-chan. Are you awake yet?"

Kaoru moved her head to look up at him. "Dr. Kurosaki, right?" She nodded. "Yes. How long am I supposed to be in here?"

"Yes, that's me," the man replied, smile widening just a bit as he picked up the clipboard at the side that contained the patient date for the girl on the bed. Well, it seemed that nothing bad happened here; just some painful wounds and bruises, but those would all heal in time.

Placing down the board, Isshin looked at Kaoru once more and answered her inquiry. "Just a few days. We need to make sure you're properly healed before he can let you out." Mainly just for safety's sake - you'd never know what could happen these days.

"Oh." She frowned. "That pig was strong. Are they all like that?"

Despite the situation at hand, Isshin could only chuckle when he heard that question. "No, nothing like that at all. The pigs on land are actually very docile and adorable! I even had a few once, back when I was younger!"

Ah yes, back in Colvus with a few of those darling rappigs... not that Ryuuken was too pleased, but they were just far too adorable!

So normal pigs were small, didn't have tusks, and didn't attack people. That didn't sound anything like the sky pigs. Were they really pigs, then? Or were they more like pigs than the other ones were?

Kaoru put a hand to her injured side. "Why?"

"Hm?" the man perked up at that, giving the girl an inquiring glance. "Why what?"

She wanted to know a lot of things, really, but she decided to start with the most obvious. "Why were these ones different, if normal pigs are small and don't attack or fly?"

"Ah..." Isshin started, not quite sure how to put it in a way that a thirteen-year-old like her could understand. "That's kind of hard to say, but let's just say its something that kind of happened naturally."

Or at least, he hoped it was a natural evolution. Maybe mana crystals had been involved somehow, though he really wouldn't have an idea at all.

As it happened, Kaoru was a very intelligent thirteen-year-old. The only problem was that her capability of understanding things, while high, did not match the number of things she actually knew.

"Oh. So they weren't just created." She frowned. "But that pig was strong. I didn't think it would hurt me."

"I think everyone was taken aback by them," the doctor went with a small chuckle - he had been in a few events like these before when he was younger, and so the sky boars hadn't really been that much of a surprise for him. It was also one of the reasons why he had been down in the brig; he really wasn't as spry as he used to be.

Smiling a little at her later comment, Isshin placed down the clipboard again and started to go around to get some basic equipment. "Well, it is a sky boar. It had to be strong or it wouldn't survive the skies otherwise."

Kaoru watched as the doctor gathered his things and nodded. "So the sky is more dangerous than the land? But the land floats in the sky, doesn't it?"

"Generally, yes," Isshin replied as he opened a nearby cupboard to find wherever that thing was - oh there it is. The man sighed in relief as he took out the blood pressure meter from its spot and closed the cupboard, heading back towards the girl while he continued in his response. "There's still a couple of dangerous beasts on land, but most of the really strong ones are all in the sky. Reial's only so big, after all."

He paused for a moment to set the blood pressure meter properly at the bedside table, and the turned towards Kaoru with a grin and spoke again. "Now, let's see how you're doing, shall we? Sit up properly, and lay your arm on the surface of the table."

"Oh." Kaoru filed that thought away for later reference. "All right." She pulled herself up into a sitting position with her arms, cringing a little, and rested one arm on the table as he told her. "What are you doing?"

Isshin noticed the cringe, but didn't call the girl out for it and only kept his smile in place as the man set up the equipment properly on the bedside table.

"Ah, this? It's going to measure your blood pressure," the doctor responded as he adjusted Kaoru's arm to make sure it was lying properly before taking out the armband to wrap it around her arm. That done, he took the stethoscope that was hanging from his neck and wore it properly, placing the hearing end onto where the pulse was and spoke. "I'm going to take your blood pressure now, okay? Make sure you keep still."

That said, he started the mechanism and let the armband inflate, keeping an eye on the pocketwatch in his other hand as Isshin mentally counted the beats in his head.

"Oh. Okay," Kaoru responded with a shrug, not asking any further. She sat as still as she could and stared at the machine.
