...Something like that. )
Her thoughts were cut off almost immediately, as the faint, yet oh-so-familiar, smell of fish wafted up. That would be one way to find a kitchen, right? Follow the food. And even if she didn't arrive at her destination, she would arrive at fish, and that was just as good, right? One simply couldn't go wrong with something as delicious and perfect as fish.
So, like one rather annoying mascot, Ruby followed her nose. Though she wandered down many wrong paths, it did eventually get stronger and stronger, culminating outside the kitchen. She poked her head in the door, nearly melting at the wonderful cooking scents coming from inside.
"Something sure smells good in here!"

And sure enough, there was the pink dragon that she remembered so fondly despite all the fire-related incidents that tended to happen around her. Ruby would have no trouble recognizing her in return: Jean looked the same as ever, other than the apron she had tied on over her dress, and her ponytail being wrapped up into a messy bun to avoid frying her hair.
She was so overcome by joy and nostalgia that she couldn't help but abandon the frying fish momentarily to give the dragon a warm hug. "Oh, I'm so happy to see you again, Ruby. You wouldn't believe how much I've missed you!"

The hug took Ruby by surprise at first, as hadn't been expecting such a warm welcome, but it was returned the instant the shock wore off.
"It's really good to see you, too," she replied, a wide grin already plastered on her face. "I can't believe how long it's been! You haven't changed a bit."

Once she was convinced that Ruby had been thoroughly hugged, and before she crossed the line into pure smothering, Jean released her grip on the dragon.
"Hold on. We can catch up in a bit - you must be hungry, right?" The fish wasn't quite done cooking, but with Ruby's fire breath, that probably wouldn't be much of a problem.

As if on cue, her stomache gave an audiable growl at the mention of hunger. It had been a while since she'd eaten anything, mostly to avoid getting airsick, and with the smell of that fish all over the place, it was impossible to keep it a secret.
"A little," she chuckled, eyes wandering to where Jean had been cooking moments ago. As badly as she wanted to eat it, she didn't want to be too rude, either. General opinion said that ignoring a friend for food was usually not a polite thing to do, even if that food was delicious, delicious fish.

Jean laughed lightly at Ruby's reaction to the mere mention of food. "Well, I won't let a friend of mine starve in a kitchen. Come on! I was making this just for you!" She headed back over to where the fish was frying, beckoning for Ruby to follow.
A quick check of the fish told Jean that it was just about done, and in fact it was probably best to take it off now before she risked overcooking it. Rather than bother with utensils, she lifted the pan by its handle and casually tossed the fish into the air, catching it with a plate in the other hand.
