Characters: Shinjiro, Adachi, Mitsuru and OPEN Location: The Convoy kitchen Rating: PG-13ish? Time: Backlogged to sometime before the Sparklepires Description: Shinjiro is making sky urchin! An old 'friend' comes to make her mind known
It had been easy enough to find out what Shinjirou's position on the new vessel was, but actually cornering him had proved more difficult. It seemed he had gotten even more apt at being where she wasn't. Still, she was in luck this time, it seemed - as she entered one of the kitchen's side doors, she spotted a familiar back, intent on his work on the counter in front of him. And even luckier - he was alone.
"Still hiding from me, Aragaki?" There was a little more venom in her voice than she had intended, but damnit, he could be so frustrating.
The young cook stiffened like he had been shot: and with Mitsuru on the warpath, he'd be lucky if that was all that happened to him. He took a few deep breaths before turning, his general look of disinterest back on his face. Like hell he would let her see him spooked.
"Do I look like I'm hiding?" Which was bullshit. He was an expert at avoiding her, after all...
"Yes," Mitsuru replied bluntly as she stalked over to stand behind him, arms crossed and an angry glare on her face. "I've spent the last three days trying to track you down - I have no doubt this encounter is due to luck and nothing else."
He snorted, rolling his eyes at her. They had never gotten 100% along, though he ironically trusted her more then he did most people. After all, she had his back when he and Aki had been fighting the good fight. She was good at what she did.
Mitsuru decided it would be wisest if she dropped that particular vein of argument - whether or not Shinjirou had been hiding from her (and she was fairly certain he had), she had found him now. Time for a new conversation topic. "You still haven't told me why you left. Or where you went."
Aki got to the kitchen just as Mitsuru was finishing speaking. He was surprised - Mitsuru didn't know why Shinji had left? Why did he have to choose right then, why, but it was too late now. He was sure they both knew he was there, without him having to say anything. A small part of him still wanted to say nothing and grab some popcorn, and he just leaned against the doorframe.
Shinjiro snarled, frustrated by his two former teammates. Back then they had always been a strong force against him, when they wanted to be. Sure, Akihiko was his best friend (and after all this time he still considering him so) but he and Mitsuru were a power couple all the same.
In fairness, Mitsuru did have a pretty good guess, once she realized Shinjirou was still alive. It had needed confirmation, though, and, well... now she had it. "You ran away." It was an accusation, rather than a question.
"Just tell us where you went, Shinji. How long you stayed before moving on." He's not angry, really, though he can't speak for Mitsuru. Shinji can snarl all he wants, but he should know that won't deter them. He looked around the kitchen. "How much more do you have to cook?"

He respected her, but he'd never admit it.
