Marluxia hadn't suffered the same as his as-yet unknown visitor, but he knew the routine well. He didn't enjoy serving as a Quartermaster, but it was the best he could expect from such a job. A position of moderate power, people beneath him, orders to hand out and a certain degree of security. He had no loyalty to the crew or those around him, but he acted as though he did and worked as though it was what he wanted from life. The job satisfaction was lacking, but the motivation was there in the form of the personal goal that he worked towards. The job on Serenity and The 4423 before it weren't what he strived for -- they were simply the means to achieve an end.

That, in particular, was what kept him going.

His own profession was far more honourable than piracy--ah, smuggling, rather. Well, this was true in the eyes of those who recognised that job for the skill involved, but he had made something of a silly mistake concerning that. Whether he'd been caught out he didn't know, but he wasn't about to risk going back to Kropmork and

The dark, severely elegant clothes, the politely fixed smile, the soft pink hair, Yoruichi took it all in. His features and bearing were not feminine, but...neither would she have said he was traditionally masculine, except perhaps in an aristocratic sort of way. This was a strange individual, but she supposed she was going to run into that a lot on a ship like this. Either way, it wasn't a concern of hers how eccentric her coworkers were, she must work with them regardless.

"Yoruichi Shihōin," she introduced herself. "Quartermaster."

Marluxia looked down at her, keeping up his pleasant façade. She was as he'd expected, which meant that the meeting was one between co-workers of the same rank. Interesting. He hadn't yet made the effort to go out and mingle with the crew, having had work to be getting on with, but he wasn't against the idea.

Besides, how could he refuse when she came to him?

"Marluxia Endleofan," he said in return. "Quartermaster also, as you must already know."

"I went over the crew roster first thing," Yoruichi confirmed.

She kept her eyes on him, and avoided peeking around him and into his room. Marluxia wasn't exactly a usual name, neither was pink hair, and she couldn't help but wonder if he was that Marluxia, but wasn't about to ask him outright. The list had contained other surprises as well, while he was a passenger, Rufus Shinra had been most unexpected.

"Since we're going to be working together, I thought we might as well get to know one another," she said.
