Another day gone, another dead end met, another step closer to what could possibly be the end of everything.
It had only been but a while or so since Miles Edgeworth (that fucking idiotic bastard) had been found accused in being the mastermind and prime suspect of being the murderer of a Vohemaro diplomat, but somehow Hijikata felt like it had been fucking forever already. These days now were all rushed, hurried, filled with activity of going around asking questions and more often than not demanding answers. This was honestly one of the times the samurai was glad for being part of the military - it was good to just simply flash your rank and everyone would be at your feet for mercy. In another time the man might have been more merciful, but mercy was something he couldn't give now, not when he was so pressed for time more than he had ever been.
Still, despite all that he had tried in his power there was only so much he could do, and so now late into the night, here he was in this bar which name he couldn't remember for the life of him, sitting on his seat as he glared at the mug in his hands. The day had just been terrible, with nothing to help in proving Edgeworth's innocence and if anything, just seemed to make him all the more guilty - not that Hijikata believed in all that bullshit for even a single second. Like it or not, he had worked with the asshole for half a decade already; as irritating as he was, he knew the man would never do something as cold-blooded as murder.
But of course, those were all his personal feelings - which meant that it was all him, and nobody would ever take it seriously. Well, nobody besides the spiky-haired reporter sitting beside him now anyway. In another time and place Hijikata might have found it amusing that he was now working with Edgeworth's childhood friend, but at time time he really wasn't in much of a mood to be amused at anything. Not when things were this complicated and messed up now.
