Notes: This is the Winding Way's closing log. Feel free to post here all through the hiatus. L and Vash are leaving and the crew knows they will not be together again, at least not all together.
The feeling of the Way was not as happy as he had hoped. He knew that there was nothing to be done, however, this was ... a sadness that the entire crew was feeling on one level or another. Vash could have been killed, and very nearly was, that left L on edge as well.
Gunsmoke was in full swing, serving whatever was asked for, L had even purchased a band for the entertainment of the crew. It seemed only fair that none of them would have to work today. L recognized it was a time for sadness and goodbyes, but he hoped it would be enough to leave fond memories with his crew. He was ending something they had loved, he knew that, but he knew the longer the Winding Way stayed together the more chances Knives would have to find Vash and to hurt him with the crew.
It was the only thing he could do, the only way he could protect them from Knives and the bounty hunters who saw him only as a prize to be cashed in for a life of luxury.
He was doing is best to mingle and circulate, being polite, but he did not expect many cheery faces in his direction, instead he was happy to see the others chatting among themselves.
