Hughes was looking forward to this. He wasn't a lazy man by any means, but since his..."death" he had been taking advantage of any down time he could get. Braska was apparently one of the few that joined the crew while he was still in that mostly dead state in the captain's room. In any case the new medic sounded like a nice guy, and it was his job after all to get to know the entire crew.
He gave the door a soft knock, peeking in with a big friendly grin. "I hope I'm not too early."
Braska looked up from his fidgeting, and smiled back at the man peeking his head in through the door. "No, of course not - come in!" He was looking forward to meeting other members of the crew - particular ones closer to his own age. He didn't really mind much that his two fellow healers where so much younger than him - closer to the age Yuna would be now, really - it wasn't helping him be any less reclusive among the crew, so far.
Hughes' smile grew as he stepped in and up to the table, offering his hand to Braska. "It's nice to meet you. And welcome to the crew, since I've not actually had a chance to say as much yet."
"It has been that, hasn't it? Hopefully things will calm down quite a bit now." Hughes took a seat, leaning back and getting comfortable, so at ease with himself and Braska. "So how did you end up here, if you don't mind my asking?"
Braska took the seat opposite him, finding himself rather comfortable in the other man's presence. "Well, I needed work and a way to travel, and this seemed like a simple way of fulfilling both."
Hughes nodded his understanding. Hopping on a ship, joining the crew, really was a great way to get from one place to another. "So do you have particular destination or just wanting to see the world?"
"Ah - I'm looking for my daughter, actually." The smile stayed firmly on his face, but he hadn't quite managed to ignore the surge of grief those words brought him, yet.
Hughes perked with interest. "Well, I'd certainly say that's a good reason to travel. Just looking for the sake of seeing her or...?" He didn't want to assume something might be wrong, that his daughter was lost or in some kind of trouble, but he knew that the possibility was there. His father's heart hoped that it was just the case of a father wanting to see his daughter again and just not entirely sure where to start looking.
Zeetha had read Braska's message over the network and decided to pay a visit. Braska had arrived at a decidedly unfortunate time for him, and had missed the jolly spirit of welcome the ship normally had. With everything that had happened she couldn't quite make herself feel cheerful yet, but she made a determined effort to return to her work and plow through it, take care of everyone the best she could, and restore if not a total sense of normalcy then at least a feeling that things would be able to continue on.
She stopped before Braska's door and knocked on it firmly.
Before Braska could explain further to Hughes, their conversation was interrupted by the knock on the door. Well - it wouldn't make too much difference if two heard his little story rather than one. It wasn't really a secret... just a difficult topic.
He raised his voice a touch so the newcomer outside could hear him. "Come in! The door should be unlocked."
Hughes looked over at the door and gave one of his typical grins when Zeetha stepped in. "Well hello, Mommy. Come to join us? Braska here was just about to tell me about his daughter."
He gave the door a soft knock, peeking in with a big friendly grin. "I hope I'm not too early."
