Characters: Shinjiro Aragaki and [OPEN] Content: Shinji is baking melon bread and plum tarts to get his clothes back. Don't ask Setting: Silvana kitchen aka Shinji's lair Time: Shortly after his most recent post
Akihiko was making his way back to his room, after hiding Shinji's new clothes with Toph, when he caught the unmistakable smell of melon bread. He smirked. Looks like Shinji got the note.
Making his way down to the kitchen, he smiled when he saw Shinji at work, and some melon bread cooling nearby. Maybe he'd get him to teach him how to make it sometime. "Smells good," he said, leaning on the doorframe.
Shinji had been expecting the smell to draw Aki in, and it had worked like a charm. He turned flicking some of the dough from his mixing spoon at him before returning to his work.
"Yeah, you'd know wouldn't you. Thief." He sounded pretty cranky, but no longer as red-ragey as he had before. At least the thief wasn't Gin.
Aki raised his hand, catching the dough, and he licked it off. "Tastes good, too. I've missed yours," he said, unable to keep a note of sadness from creeping in his voice.
He sat on one of the counters, away from Shinji's work area, and gave him a Look. "Thief? You think I took your clothes?
He noticed the tone, but refused to acknowledge it. Starting down that slope once again would do him no good. Once upon a time he'd been a sucker for it (and Miki's) but after having Akihiko chasing after him those first months after he left SEES but before he left on a ship and broke contact for good... it pissed him off more then anything. What right did Aki have to be sad over him?
"Oh really funny smartass." He grumped, going back to work pouring the dough onto a cutting board and working to kneed it. "There's some finished over there. Take some and get my stuff back."
He turned, gesturing at Akihiko with his spoon in a way that might have been called....'sassy'... coming from anyone else. On Shinjiro it just looked funny.
"Not happing. If you didn't take the clothes, you don't get the ransom." He could play this game too.
Oh, that gesture. It was funny, all right, funny enough for Aki to laugh even harder, and it was a couple of minutes before he pulled himself together, crying slightly.
He went over, grabbed one of the loaves, and was back on the counter munching away, all within only a few seconds. Yeah, he'd really missed this, but he wasn't going to think about that now. "What do you have to drink?"
He swatted at the other young man with his dough covered spoon, but Aki was just too fast to catch in time. Instead he just glared at him. Whatever, he had made enough.
Akihiko was quiet for a few seconds. Shinji had gotten him just as soon as he'd taken a bite, and a few years worth of living with Mitsuru had beaten the talk-with-your-mouth-full habit out of him. "Sure. I'm not dumb enough to think you'd do it for me. Just tell me whatcha got."
He snorted, though the tone of his voice was leaning towards humor. There was something oddly familiar about this banter. Comforting even.
"Water. Some juice in the icechest. Beans and leaves for coffee and tea." He rattled off without much interest. He didn't keep much in the kitchen itself: most everyone had their own supplies after all. They just had to come down for ice once and awhile.
Ahi jumped down from the counter and went to the cabinet. He took a cup down, filled it from the sink, and put it back by where he was sitting. Looking back, he saw Shinji with his back turned, and he smiled.
It took hardly any effort for him to run back over there and take some more bread. He was going to need more soon, and he didn't want to get back up, and it would only draw more notice. He jumped back on the counter, mindful of the bread and water. "Thanks."
He wandered back to the bread, meaning to get more for himself, only to finally notice the missing piece. He glared at Aki, but at this point was pretty much giving up on guarding the stuff.
"Probably messing with my shit while we talk." he grumbled.

"Is it cool enough now?" He stretched. "I'd give you your stuff if I knew where it was."

"So, where's Toph?" No point playing along anymore. He KNEW, and he knew they knew.
