Harlequin stared over the lip of the wall, gaze focused into the far distance without really seeing it.
Three days. It had been three days since . . . since Brother had disappeared. Yes, he let himself use that word for Ichigo, if only to himself. He didn't know if it was okay to admit it to anyone else, or even if Ichigo felt the same, but . . . it was how he felt. The little puppet missed Ichigo terribly but, more than that, he was scared for his brother, out there alone somewhere dealing with that . . . that monster. Absently, he rubbed his shoulder where it still ached, the joint cracked from when he had sacrificed his arm to get away from the demon. Miss Ilya had found it and reattached it for him, so he was okay, just needed to finish healing the crack. Other things would take longer to heal.
He turned and slid down the wall to sit on the small bench and looked around the crow's nest. It hit him then that this was where he had first met Ichigo, having retreated up here to grieve the loss of his siblings in isolation, where he wouldn't bother anyone else. Now he was grieving the loss of another sibling. He pulled his knees up and buried his head in his arms, weeping softly.
