Erza was trying to deal with the disaster as best she could from the outside. She trusted that the crew members on the inside were capable of handling this weird slime. Her job was crowd control.

"Everybody get back, there's nothing to see here!" she was shouting in a piercing tone. She looked at Kenpachi specifically; she knew a troublemaker when she saw one.

"Sir, please move along, there is nothing to see here."

Kenpachi, a troublemaker? Why, whatever are you talking about! haspinkbackpack January 9 2010, 12:48:10 UTC
Kenpachi grinned ferally, looking around at everything that was going on. "I'd say there's lots ta see here, actually," he said, resting his hand easily on his sword hilt. He wasn't going anywhere just yet.

Oh, good lord. A showoff who thought he was tough. Exactly what Erza needed right now.

Clearly a show of force was needed in this case. Her eyes narrowed briefly, and a golden light appeared in her hand. The light shaped and formed itself into the shape of a sword, and then faded, leaving her holding an ornate straight-edged sword. She pointed it at him.

"Sir, I don't think you heard me properly. Move along."

His eyes widened and the maniacal grin got even bigger. "That's a neat trick," he said. He looked at her, noticing her posture, and the way she was holding the weapon. "Bet ya can use it, too." He wasn't one to underestimate a fighter just because she was a woman--the woman who taught him to fight was terrifying, after all. "Wanna fight?" he asked, apparently ignoring the fact that she looked a bit busy.

"The only thing I want is for you to move along," she said coolly. "I'm not picky what I have to do for that."

That was music to his ears. She looked like she might be a pretty good fighter, after all, and the last two towns he had been in didn't have anything but untrained thugs. He pulled his jagged sword out of its sheath, watching her eagerly. "Ain't goin' anywhere just yet," he said.

Erza rolled her eyes. Men. Always with the showing off.

"Very well, then," she said, and then flew forward, sword swinging in a dangerous arc.

Excellent! She was fast. He charges forward, swinging his sword up to try and meet hers, a mad gleam in his eyes, and the speed of her attack only seems to make it brighter.

Their swords clashed together. Erza could feel his significant bulk behind his sword. He was larger and probably physically stronger than her. A head-on confrontation could go badly.

With a flash of light she materialized a dagger in her left hand, and struck out with it, reaching past his sword to attack his face.

He pulled back when he saw the dagger, but not quite fast enough. She left a small cut on his face, and he laughed delightedly, swinging his sword away from hers to slash down towards her belly. He moved surprisingly fast for his size.

Erza saw it coming and leaped back, just a bit too slow. His sword struck harmlessly against her armor, but could have very easily done some real damage. This man was abnormally fast.

She stepped back to a safe distance and considered. "You're no ordinary braggard, are you?" she asked, giving him a serious look.

He gave her a disappointed look that seems to say, 'What are you stopping for? It was just getting fun!' But at her question, he puffs up proudly. "Kenpachi Zaraki is my name," he said. He was proud of his name, he had made it himself, Zaraki for the name of the town he first remembered living in--a brutal dog-eat-dog town deep in the Badlands--and Kenpachi, an old title for the fighter who could kill the most monsters.

"Kenpachi Zaraki," she repeated. Something occurred to her. "You wouldn't happen to know a small girl with pink hair, would you?"

He grinned proudly, and said "Yeah, Yachiru's my daughter. Good kid." He'd run into her earlier, and was pretty relieved to know she was fine.

"I see," she said. "It would appear that you are every bit the ruffian she made you out to be."

Her armor began glowing with the same golden light that had summoned her weapons earlier. It faded away, leaving her momentarily bare before it kicked in again, summon her Heaven's Wheel armor.

It could hardly be called an armor from the waist up: it left her midriff and most of her chest exposed from the front, and only protected from the back in the form of four metal wings.

It seemed decidedly less practical than her standard breastplate, and would be, were it not for the bonus that came with it: ten hefty swords, hovering around her in a circle, under her telekinetic control.

"Still, she seems to like you. I suppose I should try not to hurt you too badly."

He laughed excitedly, pulling off the eyepatch, which revealed that he didn't really need it to see. Putting both hands on his sword, he takes a ready stance. He'd let her make the first attack, since he wasn't sure what to expect.
