It was nice to be out on deck. The weather was fair and the ghost was gone. Somehow, even after all this time it was odd to not feel as though at any moment a piece of the ship would come out and attack.
Clad in just his dark vest, white shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, and dark pants tucked neatly in black boots that rose to his knees, he leaned against the railing. He sighed softly as he thought about days, even years past, as he was wont to do at times like these. With nothing else to distract him, all he could do was think.
Rufus glanced out over the main deck from just past the doors. He had come by earlier of course, and run into that very reserved pilot, but it was always worth another sweep. Particularly as it was a bit less sunny out now.
The other man on the deck appeared to have not noticed him - it seemed that with things relatively calm, this was the refuge of the ship's loners. He took a spot at the railing near the stranger, but opted to remain quiet for the moment, rather than interrupt the other's thoughts.

Gwendal didn't notice the man until he had taken a spot near him at the railing. He looked over and noticed that he had not seen this man before. Had he missed something over the journals or perhaps this man was actually a passenger and not a member of the crew?
Either way, Gwendal gave a light nod. "Good evening."
Rufus gave the other man a small, polite smile. "Good evening to you as well." There was a short silence, before Rufus remarked casually, "It seems like the main deck is very popular with people who prefer privacy; I keep bumping into them." There was a hint of amusement in his voice.

Gwendal gave a shrug, quirking an eyebrow as he turned his head to look at the man. "This area, despite being the deck, is also the one place many do not go unless they want privacy. It's large enough that at night, it's nearly bare. You must have been out for awhile to have met others."
"I came by earlier, and ran into one of the pilots. I've spent the day learning the layout of the ship, mostly." He looked over the landscape below them. "I can see why people would come out here to be alone, though. It's very...peaceful." He kept his voice carefully neutral.

Gwendal raised a brow and glanced over before turning his gaze back to the skies. "Nothing in particular."
It wasn't often that someone asked him what he was thinking but nor was he one to always say what he thought. It was rare for him to do so and he wasn't fond of it. Not unless it was his brothers or his mother whom he was talking to.

"Mm." Rufus couldn't entirely blame the other man for dodging the question - it had been something of a loaded one. His answer would not have been completely honest either, if their places were reversed. "Are you crew?"
