He was tired. Traveling by courier plan from Bellcius back to the Victoria had been less than ideal. Ideal would have a nice, wide ship that had room for his luggage somewhere other than his lap. Unfortunately, acquiring such a vessel for private shuttling was far more than a mere Lieutenant could afford. For now, he reminded himself. The last few months had taught him a great deal about patience and the forward planning necessary to achieve his goals.
Coat slung over one arm, the young man headed to his quarters, hoping that everything would still be reasonably intact after his long departure. Truly sensitive equipment had, of course, traveled with him in the rickety puddle jumper, but replacing all of his things would be a hassle. At least he had not kept that blasted fish; burdening either another soldier - or worse, attempting to bring the damned creature home and back - was the last thing he wanted. It was not wise to incur many favors of that caliber, after all.
Reaching out for the door handle, Light smiled to himself. Untouched. That was more than could usually be hoped for with the chaos that followed in the wake of the notorious flagship. He plucked the unbroken piece of pasta from the hinge and entered. From there it was not long before bags were put away, valuables returned to their proper places and journal safely returned to his desk. Considering the manhandling that had occurred not hours previous, the young man considered the lack of damage, even superficially, as a triumph of well-planned packing and strategic placing of shirts and underclothing.
Officially, he did not return to duty until the next day, but then again he had yet to check his office to see if the inbox had turned into a wastebasket yet. The nap his body was aching for would have to wait. Food, or at least tea, and a walk to his office would have to suffice.
Light did not quite sigh as he opened the door once more, replacing the pasta, the paper, and the handle before venturing towards the cafeteria.
