Friends were easier to come by on the Fiertia than Orihime had expected. It was really nice of this "Mion" to invite her out when they hadn't yet met! She hadn't spent much time around Tulgim, just enough to go find a warmer coat and a scarf when she arrived and then her visit out with Ichigo, so getting out with someone who had been here before was going to be really nice.

There was a teenage girl hanging around the end of the gangplank. Mion had sounded around that age, and she had said she'd be waiting... "Hi! You're Mion? I'm Orihime! It's really good to actually meet you!"

Hearing the click of footsteps, Shion instinctively straightened, aware of another's approach. Exhaling softly, her breath visible in the frosty air, she slowly shifted in the direction of it. Her gaze eventually settled on a young woman with long, silky red hair and large brown eyes, outfitted warmly in a coat and a scarf. Unable to recognize her, she instantly wondered if this was the newest addition to the Fiertia -- Dr. Orihime Inoue. As she listened to the other speak, she soon learned that her assumption was, indeed, correct.

"Likewise!" she agreed with a warm smile, gloved hands clasping together behind her back as the girl began to take in her appearance. "You know, I have to say -- you don't really look like a doctor. Well, a stereotypical one, that is. I mean, you just look so pretty that I would've thought you were one of those actresses from the Winding Way! Or something like that."

Orihime had heard enough at work about "the pretty nurse" - even Dr. Kurosaki made jokes about it - but it felt more genuine when it came from other women. What could she say to a compliment like that but a slightly embarrassed "thank you"? "Well, I try to take care of myself. Patients want to have someone who looks healthy taking care of them: 'doctor, cure yourself first' and all of that.

"That's a really pretty cape. Did you find it where we're headed, or is it a present?" She reached out to stroke the hem: she wasn't sure if she wanted anything like that, but it was certainly lovely.

"Thanks," she answered, a cheerful note in her voice as clearly recalled the time she received it. "And you're right -- it's a Lunasa present. Uni gave it to me." She paused for a second, before realization suddenly lit her eyes.

"Oh, that reminds me! She's a doctor, too. Did you have a chance to meet her yet?" A slight, inquisitive tilt of the head accompanied her query.

"I've met her and Dr. Rokudo, yes, but it's been nothing more than introducing ourselves and determining which duties I need to take on. It seems like if I want to get to know them better, I'm going to have to get to know them, you know?" Orihime sighed and rubbed her fingers together in the cold.

"So where did you want to head to? I've barely been off the ship since I arrived."

A sympathetic smile briefly flickered across Shion's lips as she heard her remark about Uni and Rokudo. She couldn't help sharing the same sentiment, considering how the other two weren't exactly a bundle of warm sunshine. Yet, at the same time, she viewed it as an interesting challenge to become better acquainted with them.

Hearing her question, she briefly pressed a finger against her lower lip as she regarded the answer. "I've only had a quick look around so far, but there were few stores in particular that have some nice things on sale. Although, to be honest..." Her voice lowered by an infinitesimal fraction, as if playfully indicating conspiracy without adding any teasing to her tone of voice. "I wanted to purchase a couple of things for the others on the ship -- namely, the ones that were injured in the cave-ins. Think that sounds like a good idea?" A slight, inquisitive tilt of her head accompanied the remark.

"So that's why you invited me along." Orihime's tone continued the conspiracy as she beamed at the girl. While she'd been making plans of what to provide for her long-term patients, she hadn't gotten to take care of any of them yet. "That's a really sweet idea for you to have! I've noticed people tend to get better faster if they know someone's thinking of them. I don't know most of my patients very well yet, but together we can do this.

"So," she asked, clapping her hands as if to get the two of them ready to go, "which way do we go? Tell me what you had in mind."

"You might regret saying that." A faint, lighthearted chuckle entered Shion's voice, as a sign of playfulness. "Come follow me, and I'll tell you on the way." Giving her a small wink, she swiftly shifted away, her locks of green cheerfuly swirling around her shoulders in compliance with her movement. She slowed after taking a few steps forward, pausing only once to toss a glance over her shoulder to see if the other carried any objections.

"I don't really have anything too intriciate in mind...but!" She lightly drawled out the last word, emphasizing it as if to draw in suspense. "It's just a little something that I think they may like. Gifts -- like scarves, gloves, and things of that nature to keep them warm for the later months -- and maybe some treats." She stopped there, wanting to see Orihime's opinion so far.

Orihime stepped up to walk next to Mion, moving faster to keep warm. "You're thinking along just the right lines," she answered cheerfully. "I'd think all of you would have gotten warm clothes having been here for so long, though! But I still could do for some gloves, even, so I guess not.

"You could definitely have had worse ideas, though!" Her eyes grew more excited as she started launching into a story, her hands telling as much of it as her words did. "There was a little boy at my old hospital who got his mother and his brother to - you won't believe this - sneak in all of his pets whenever they visited! I caught big bro with a parakeet taped to his leg only because I saw a feather fall out of his pants!" She giggled. "I thought it was really sweet, but you never know who's going to end up sick if you bring in animals!"

Hearing her story, Shion couldn't help but give a light giggle as well, one hand briefly hovering over her lips as if to repress it. "Oh my -- that must've been such a sight to see! But a doctor really does know best. You know, I think I may have said this before, but I really just know you're going to be a great addition to the Fiertia." A light wink accompanied the end of her statement.

"Now, as tempting as a buying everyone a pet sounds...I have to admit I'm thinking more on the materialistic side of things." Her voice momentarily lowered by a slight fraction, as if indulging within some guilty pleasure. "Like some tiny trinkets or a stuffed doll to go with the warm clothing. Even the stuffiest of patients won't be able to resist the cutest, little teddy bear, right?" The corners of her lips quirked upwards at the mild exaggeration.

stop trying to hit on her, Shion, you're not her type XD power_of_heart October 14 2009, 22:30:54 UTC
"I'm not sure about some of them. I can think of one person who would probably rip it to pieces because he wants to beat something up. It's still a really good idea, though! It'll be something new to look at." By now they'd made it into Tulgim proper, and she started looking around the streets. It wasn't as if she was going to be able to explore the city, but she recognized a few views from books and the edges of her map.

"So how far are we now?"

Oh, no, no, you misunderstand! Shion has eyes only for the Captain! :3 ribbonyidentity October 19 2009, 04:00:19 UTC
Running her gaze across the expanse, Shion found herself slowing to a halt for a brief moment, until her eyes met with her destination. "Mm, it's just over there." She inclined towards a clothes store with a light inclination of her head, before she briskly began to make her way over to it, heels clicking lightly with her quick steps.

It was a mercantile establishment that proudly advertised its fabrics as the very best, which could bear through the coldest weather of Tulgim. In other words, for Shion, it seemed like the perfect place to start.

Orihime's eyes widened slightly when she saw the signs on the store Shion had led her to, her head already starting to run tallies of who could use what and trying to calculate how much money she'd brought with her again. "I've never been in a shop like this to buy before, Mion," she said as she stood at the glass door. "I know this sounds a little silly, but it seems too nice. Yes, everyone deserves the best, but I don't know if I could pay for everything I was planning on!" She scratched the back of her head in a nervous gesture.

Hearing Orihime voice her concerns, Shion found herself slowing to a stop, shifting lightly to face the other once more. Blinking, a finger momentarily pressed against her lower lip as a sign of thoughtfulness, before she let out a small chuckle. "Ah, maybe you're right," she conceded, almost sheepishly. "Hmm...guess we should start somewhere a little more affordable then?" As she finished uttering that last word, realization suddenly lit her eyes, with a hint of excitement edging into her tone of voice.

"Wait, actually, now that I think about it...I remember seeing the perfect place for bargain hunting a few days ago!" Briskly turning, she cheerfully took a step in the direction of her next destination. "Just come right this way, and you'll see."

Before Orihime had a chance to explain that there was no harm in at least looking, and she was willing to spend a little more on Miss Saionji than herself anyway, the girl had started to head in another direction. She waved to attract the girl back to the entrance and opened the door wide. "If you help me out, I can get the money back from the captain. This kind of thing counts as expenses."
