After second collapse 8D sekaitoonajide September 4 2009, 03:19:44 UTC
She loved her job, she really did. She loved her life, and the excitement and the idea of going into the world and seeing things for what it was outside of the stories she'd heard at work from other travelers...

...But she wasn't sure that this was in the job description.

It had been something small...just a sudden noise as she was looking around the inside of the caves, hoping for just an inkling of one with need of help so she could escort them out. She was a radio operator, but she still could do just as much as everyone else.

...that is, until the noise came.

A noise became an explosion, and rocks had fallen on Sekai Saionji before she had a chance to get away.

...How long had she been out? It felt like forever.

Her back was flat on the ground, several large stones sitting quite defiantly on her legs, while another large stone was sitting on her chest, though how, she could not guess. It was hard to breathe...she was pretty sure that she wasn't in good shape.

And her legs. She couldn't feel her legs.

Letting out a whimper, Sekai tried to get herself to move, at least to move her arm towards her journal, sitting nearby.

...It was still operational. Throwing in a quick distress call, she ended up slumping down, ignoring the blood on her face, the cuts on her body, and the odd wetness gathering somewhere in her abdomen.

Where was everyone? Was anyone here?

Surely someone would come to rescue her? Or at least...say something?

It's just my first posts that are tl;dr, promise. abeator September 4 2009, 05:20:00 UTC
Abe wasn't really the type to join rescue missions -- he was an athlete, not a fighter, and he did not fancy injuries to himself. Any injury would mean the end of his piloting days, whether for sport or not, and that was not an option. Nevertheless, he had gone and joined the rest of the crew at the officers' orders. What was the chance of a second cave in? He should have calculated it statistically instead of relying on everyone else's optimism, and then he would have figured that it was too high and he wouldn't be here.

Unfortunately, the cave had collapsed that second time as he was realizing his mistake. A stone hit him on the temple, and the shaking had made him lose balance. He had thrown himself against a wheelbarrow and hoped that nothing else would hit him before blacking out.

It was the sound of his journal cackling to life on his back that had finally woken him out some time later (how long had it been? It was too dark--). A frequency from the Fiertia crew? He wiped blood off his left eye and gingerly felt around to see if he had been injuries. A cut to the brow and soreness in places, but... nothing seemed sprained nor broken. Some more cuts here and there from sharp rocks, but he could deal with that.

Right. "Ergh," he groaned, grabbing his journal. Some static, and half the screen was broken. Sekai. Sekai was calling for help. He had been near her when the collapse had happened -- where was she?

"Saionji," he called out, and coughed. "Where are you?"

Ever the Big Damn Hero that he was, Luffy of course had all but rushed into the collapsing mines in order to save the miners who were stuck there. On one hand, he did manage what he had succeeded - the miners had all managed to escape with little injuries or losses. But on the other hand, the other cave-in occurred before he could get out and so now... he was, of course, only all too obviously trapped.

He had managed to escape the brunt of the damages thanks to his rubber body, though the darkness of the tunnels had caused him to lose his way a bit. That and the fact that he had been knocked out as well by a particularly hard knock to the back of his head by one of the falling rocks, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. He had been though worse things than these, no thanks to his days of training back home.

Having wandered around the darkness for a while, he managed to hear the sound of static (journals?) and then some voices talking. Luffy took a moment to gain his bearings, blinking a few times before taking another few steps forward and calling out. "Hellooooo? Is anyone there?"

"Saionji, where are you?"

"Helloooooo? Is anyone there?"

...Voices...She had been speaking to Abe and Nami in her journal, just to ease the pain...she listened to their words over and over and over, just to try not to think about it, to get her mind off of the pain and the thought that she was really going to die alone down here...

She was just going to be alone and nobody was going to find her, and she was going to be abandoned--

No. The people didn't do that here. She had friends. She wasn't going to be abandoned...

There were voices, after all!

"HELLO! I'M OVER HERE!" She screamed as hard as she could manage, though it sounded wavering and a bit weak. "SOMEONE, HELP ME!!!"

Abe had seen Luffy first when he stumbled around a corner, using his journal as a light source. He didn't know the other boy and therefore didn't care. All that mattered to him was his own crew members, and anyway, the kid was walking around on his own.

"Stop shouting, you'll cause another cave-in," he hissed as he brushed past the kid and moved forward. It was a dead end where he had come from, and with blood still tricking over an eye and his limbs getting more and more sore by the minute, it wasn't like he could afford to lose time.

That was when he heard it -- a small voice from a narrow passage at a particularly dark corner. He scrambled forward and soon saw the source. Three seconds later and he'd all he had to.

"Fuck," he swore, skidding to kneel down next to the girl's torso. "Fuck," he repeated. How was he going to move those stones without aggravating the girl's injuries? It looked like she'd broken something -- a lot of things, actually -- and moving her was next to impossible. "I'm going to get you out, all right," he muttered as he examined the rock surface.

Luffy only blinked at the sudden appearance of Abe, freezing in place for a moment as the other brushed him before his senses caught back up to him (the shouting helped as well). Quickly regaining himself, the powder monkey hurried in his steps behind the other as they went down to where the third voice had been coming from. He couldn't tell much due to the darkness as well as the dim lighting of the journals, but he could see well enough to make out it was a girl. A very injured one, at that.

He glanced around while Abe gave Sekai that once-over, trying to figure out where he was to little success. "D'you guys know where we are?" the Winding Way crewmember asked as he turned back to glance at them.

She was going to get help. She was going to get help...someone was going to help her out of here. She was going to be okay. She was going to be okay. She was going to be okay, she was going to be okay...

Those words kept echoing in Sekai's head, even as Abe and...whoever that was were looking down at her.

"I'm glad to know...owww...that you're okay."

Sekai's voice was calm, but her eyes were fearful, panicked...tears were clinging to the corners of her eyes, but she had no reason to cry.

She was going to get out. She was going to get OUT.

"D'you guys know where we are?" The second young man, probably from the Winding Way (She was pretty proud of talking to everyone on the Fiertia at least once...), glancing around as if to pinpoint his location.

"I'd...say we're pretty far in." Sekai said. Talking would distract her from the pain and her injuries...her mother used to talk to her when she was hurt. "I know that we're a good ten minutes' walk away from the exit. If the exit's still there by now..."

Abe resisted the urge to snap at the kid and tell him they were in a cave, who cared? But stopped himself, mostly due to the fact that Sekai's voice had sounded very wet and wrong to his ears.

"We need to get that rock off your chest," he said calmly, looking around for something to use. "But if I move it, it might damage you further. I'll try to prop it up to my feet..." He had great, big boots, after all. The rocks on her legs could wait. It was important that they stabilize her breathing, and that was next to impossible with her chest being crushed like this.

The pilot looked up at the other kid. "Do you have anything we can use?"

"To use?" the teenager echoed back questioningly with another of his blank stares and blinks. In the dimness of the place, it was really hard for him to make out what was happening. It took a good few moments for the powder monkey to realize he was staring at a rock on the injured girl's chest before he immediately switched to Shounen Hero Mode.

He shifted closer to the duo so that he was now close enough to reach Sekai easily, looking at the rock for a moment before then speaking. "I think I should be able to move it." Or at least, get it off the girl without him needing to crush it - even he knew that would be a bad idea.

"A-are you sure?" Sekai asked, berating herself at her stutter. It was hard to breathe at all, and she could feel something rather wet sitting in the back of her throat.

...Blood? It tasted a bit coppery when it went to her mouth, and her fears were confirmed as a bit of it spilled out.

...She was going to be okay. She was going to be okay. She was going to be okay...

"I don't want either of you guys to get hurt on my account."

He completely ignored her to peer up at Luffy. They were men, after all. She could complain when they were done getting her out of there. If she was still alive, was what he didn't think about.

"Moving it is one thing. Can you do it without adding more pressure on her?" he asked, taking Sekai's journal for combined light. He also took off his jacket, folded it together, and gently, carefully, near-tenderly slid it under Sekai's head. The elevation would help her breathe.

A grin from the powder monkey at Sekai's comment. "Don't worry, its all gonna be alright!" After all, things would always work out in the end, right? One way or another, things would just work out for them and everyone else, so there was no need to worry about it.

Now onto the main subject... the teenager listening to Abe's question first before directing his attention to the rock. He peered at it closely, dark eyes blinking as he examined it before shifting forward and leaning closer to look at it better. One might have noticed his neck stretching just a little too inhumanely when he did so, if there was enough lighting.

"...if I can grab the rock properly, I think I should be able to," the shounen hero finally responded after a while.

If he could grab it properly...? Was he seriously considering just grabbing that thing and lifting it?! Was he nuts? Was he some sort of superman?

Sekai looked at them both, but gave Abe a smile and mumbled "Thank you" for the jacket. Even that small elevation made a difference.

All she had to think about now was trusting them, and getting out alive.

She'd be getting out alive. She would. She knew that. She would be okay...

Abe frowned. He thought that the kid meant they'd both be lifting it together, but was he proposing to do it on his own? "How strong are you?" he asked incredulously, eyeing the skinny frame. Guy nearly looked malnourished. "We can both lift it, it's just a matter of coordinating."

d_luffymonkey September 4 2009, 15:42:36 UTC
How strong was he? Well...

"Uh... I'm really strong!" the Winding Way member responded with a huge grin on his face that was rather inappropriate considering the situation they were currently in. Still, Luffy was hardly known for his subtlety... or even his brains, for that matter. He was as much of a shounen retard as shounen retards could get. "I've punched holes in mountains back home!"

Saying that, the powder monkey scooted closer to Sekai and the rock on her chest, took another moment to look at it properly before brining out his arms to wrap around the rock. Twice.

...If Sekai could shit bricks, then she would have at seeing that.

Punch...mountains? And he wrapped his arms around the rock twice. TWICE.

...

TWICE.

The young woman stared incredulously, letting out a gasp that she regretted as her chest started to burn with pain. He was...

Twice.

....

HE WRAPPED HIS ARMS AROUND THAT THING TWICE.
