The knock on his door was unexpected. It was a good few hours before he expected Watson (perhaps with Hibari in tow, if the older man thought he was going to cause trouble) to check in on him. And Gin was still recovering from his own strange malady and couldn't pester him too much. He had been sitting on his bed, flipping playing cards at his turned over hat at the foot. Without work or his journal he was racked with boredom. Watson had loaned him some books, but the doctors tastes and his own were pretty far apart it seemed.

He looked up and grunted. Not a disapproval or an invitation, just an acknowledgement.

She opened the door slowly, lips set in a thin line as she entered Shinjiro's room.

Almost right away, her eyes narrowed critically as they fixed on Aragaki. "You look dead," she reported bluntly, shutting the door behind her. Of course he didn't look nearly as bad as he had that afternoon: no more deep red stains blooming on his jacket, no wild grins and black globs sputtering outwards. But boredom-that read loud and clear on his expression. His eyes looked tired, to her, unfocused. Cirucci felt shut-in at least half the time, but to not even possess his journal for amusement ( ... )

Shinjiro was surprised to see her. Sure, he had asked after her to Gin, but having her really come to see him? That threw him for a loop. It also... hurt. It brought the attack up fresh in his mind. Smells of mud and blood and the slick stuff pouring from his mouth. He visiblely shuddered, but managed a thin lipped expression that might have been a smile, but only barely.

"Ain' you're fault. S'bad luck, that's all." He replied, rolling his shoulders and tossing another card. It missed. "Capt'n woulda been pissed if I let a crewman die."

She shifted her gaze onto Shinjiro, swallowing down a noise of indignation. "That was your concern? The Captain would have been pissed? That's not very flattering to hear," she replied dryly. A quick recurrence of that small smile, however, lightened her words, forced as it was.

Cirucci took a few hesitant steps further into the room, stopping by the foot of his bed. "...Look." She breathed loudly through her nose. "I'm not repeating this again. Get it through your head or don't. But for now, I owe you, whether I'm pleased with it or not." Her eyes locked onto his. "I don't know what the hell you did, but..."

She trailed off, gaze flicking to the ground; then, it darted back up, her eyes watching him closely. "...Probably not willing to talk about that yet, are you?"

Gin knew about his power, no doubt; as it stood, she didn't need to interrogate Shinjiro about the matter. Her question was rhetorical, really, a way of showing that she had some sympathy for him. She could afford to back off, for now; best not to threaten and corner ( ... )
