Time: Late afternoon, sometime before Ichigo and Watanuki got attacked

She really didn't have the money to get it. Certainly, she was making more money now than she had on her own, but luxuries like fancy clothes were still above what she could afford. Besides, why spend money on clothes when there was someone on board who could make nice clothing? Living the life of a gypsy had more than taught her the value of thrift. And on top of that, a frilly dress like that didn't suit her anyway. She was a rugged tomboy at heart, as tough as she was tempting. A foofy dress like that didn't suit her, and it's not like they went to any places where it was normal to wear something as formal as that.
All that aside, though, it had caught her eye when she first walked through the marketplace, and since she would have an evening to herself, she decided to go check and see if it was still there. There was no shame in looking, right? Just to see how it would look, maybe get some ideas and suggestions for Sophie. And, well, to dream a little. All girls, even gypsy tomboys, liked to imagine what it was like to be a princess and wear pretty dresses like that all the time...
"There sure is a lot of clothing for sale here," Jean noted to herself as she looked around the clothing stalls of the marketplace. Where had she seen that dress, anyway?
