Spectator Thread -- Race One (feel free to have your pups bump into this kid!) justtubeit July 4 2009, 02:02:30 UTC
Although he would never, ever, EVER admit it, Raidou had deliberately changed his routine patrol with someone else in order to roam around during the races. The boy detective looked on, with awe, as the pilots prepared themselves, and caught, of course, the familiar figure of Kyouya Hibari just before the man hopped into the cockpit of his plane.

Theirs was an interesting story, but not one Raidou would tell to just anyone. Nonetheless, the boy smiled, and quietly offered a prayer for luck in the other's favor. He then continued roaming, occasionally stopping to see how the race was coming along.

Originally, Naoto had just planned to watch the second race. But at the last minute, she decided to watch both the first and second qualifying races. After getting herself a canteen of water, she headed down towards the race course, hoping to find a good spot before they were all gone. It would do Naoto no good to get stuck behind too many people. As much as she hated to admit it, she was a bit vertically challenged.

It was by chance that she spotted the familiar figure of her cousin among all the other spectators. It seemed like they were running into each other a lot lately. Not that she minded, of course.

"Raidou-kun!" She called, making her way towards him.

Raidou turned immediately at the sound of Naoto's voice, and smiled, meeting her halfway.

"Hello again. Enjoying yourself?"

Naoto nodded. Ever since she was a child, she had adored things like airships and planes. Coming to see the races was more exciting for her than most people would have guessed.

"I am. I see that you are as well."

"As always. Would you like to walk with me? I would not wish to keep you, though, if you plan on staying on the bleachers..."

He DID have to keep patrolling, after all.

To be honest, the prospect of sitting in the bleachers the entire time was unappealing, especially in the hot sun.

"I would like to join you," she replied.

"Then I am most glad for the company."

Raidou picked up his pace again, as soon as Naoto was with him.

"Were you here to watch anyone in particular, cousin?"

Naoto quickened her steps slightly to keep up with Raidou. She then answered, "Yes. A friend of mine is entered in the second race. I thought I would come to support him."

"Ah."

That was not surprising. The Fiertia did have a good number of pilots.

"Would that happen to be Souji?"

They had talked of Souji Seta on the network before. Raidou still wondered how exactly Naoto and Souji had come to know each other, or more specifically, the circumstances behind it.

"Yes, it's Souji-senpai," Naoto replied. "He's a helmsman, not a pilot, but he decided to enter the race."

Although she would not admit it, she was worried about his safety. That course looked quite treacherous.

"I see..."

Raidou trailed off, looking towards the course.

"I hope he will be all right."

He was sure Hibari would be, but the race looked like a challenge for anyone else.

"I hope so as well."

Naoto had joined the Fiertia mainly to lend her support to Souji, but right now, there was nothing she could do to ensure her leader's safe return. All she could do was trust in his piloting skills.

"Are the other pilots from your ship joining as well?"

"We have four other pilots entered in the races," Naoto answered. "I'm also here to support them as well."

"That is quite a number," Raidou remarked. "My ship has a little less than that, I believe."

"Oh?" Naoto asked. "How many?"
