Which was what brought him to the market in cool morning hours, before the summer heat could bear down on him. Quatre smiled as he watched the vendors set up shop, and the silence, so different than the busy sounds of the afternoon, began to soothe his mind. He continued to walk and observe silently, and before long, the scent of sizzling meat reached his nose. His stomach grumbled in reply, and he decided that it couldn't hurt to grab some breakfast. At least he'd beat the crowds.
However, it seemed that he wasn't the only early bird in the makeshift town. Quatre stopped as soon as he saw that familiar figure looking around, and it took him a moment to regain his senses.
"Ranulf?" He couldn't hide the smile that crossed his face, and he asked, "Ranulf, is that you?"

"Quatre Winner. It's been a long, long time... I don't remember you being quite so tall."
Seeing the youngest of the Winner children was a wonderful little surprise. He had lost contact over the last few years as his job focus tilted more towards info gathering then diplomacy. But he couldn't forget the days of having the kid tugging as his tail.

The boy didn't want to dwell too long on that, though, or anything else to do with his family. A change of topic seemed to be in order.
"So," he asked, his voice still teasing, "what's kept you away for so long?"

"Tribe work, mostly. The King's nephew will be taking over soon, so I've been busy."
