He handed over a reasonable amount of cash in exchange for the brown bag full of supplies, and as he turned to walk from the stall back to the ship, he nearly crashed into the pale man walking close to him.
Hm. Deja vu. He really ought to start looking where he was going. This bumping into total strangers thing really wasn't like him. Maybe he was just too distracted.
He looked to meet the eyes of the man next to him and he raised his free hand in way of apology.
"Apologies. I was a little distracted for a moment."

He made eye contact with the other boy, but his pupils didn't react at all to the refocusing. His facial expression didn't alter, either.
"Watch where you're going." Was all he said, his words coming out lazy.
Reply
"Ah, I'll take that as acceptance of my apology?"
He did tell him he was distracted... And he had apologised. What else was there left to do?
Reply
"You may take it as you like." He replied, genuinely not caring if he took it as that or not.
As far as he was concerned, he'd already been deemed an idiot in his eyes forever, simply for being so unobservant as to walk into somebody else. Ulquiorra had made the attempt to move, but it appeared that Sai's distracted clumsiness was a little too much for his short-notice skills of avoidance. He wasn't entirely blameless, but he certainly didn't see it that way.

He shrugged. It didn't really bother him all that much. Although, he hated to waste a perfectly good apology on somebody who didn't want it.
"In that case, if you don't want it, I'll take it back. You were quite close, after all."
Reply
"Hn." Somehow, in that single syllable, there was a mocking note in his voice.

He failed to pick up the mocking tone in his voice, and instead took it as a noise of indifference. He didn't see what the problem was. He apologised, this man didn't want it, so he took it back. Somebody was to blame, and any other normal person would have moved on.
He blinked once, slowly. "Can I help you?"
Reply
Ah, that might be a useful thing to ask.
"Which crew are you with?" He asked, his voice deep and cold.
He had to make sure that he wasn't doing anything socially terrible with one of the people he had to share a ship with, after all.
Reply
No bothering with his smile, he kept his eyes on his as he spoke.
"The Winding Way."
He didn't feel like he should dish out any more information. That's all he'd asked for, after all.
Reply
As far as he was concerned, he was not even worth his time.
Reply
Maybe he was thinking about it too hard. Maybe he was just a... jerk? Somebody had called him that once, and it seemed fitting now. He cleared his throat and called after him.
"What about you?"
Reply
"The Fiertia." He said simply.
He didn't quite understand why he wanted to know.
Reply
"Ah. I see."
Well, that was good news. Everybody he'd met so far on the Way seemed friendly enough. It would have been a shame to ruin the record so early on.
