Three years. Hard to believe it'd been that long. At the same time, it felt like decades had past. And she sure wasn't the gangly, big-eyed kid he remembered. She'd filled out and gotten... nice on the eyes. And apparently grown up too. Not that he was going to sink to telling Rikku any of that. "'Bout time you grew up and filled-out. You were such a scrawny little thing I was worried you were gonna snap. Looks like the ship's life is doin' you good." And that, was as close to a compliment as he was going to dish out. "Too bad I missed it. I bet it was quite the show."

"And how long did it take that tummy of yours to flatten out into muscle, huh?" Rikku retorted. "And yeah, it has. I'm not afraid of mice any more, in fact, a few of 'em clean my room for me."

She paused. That sounded funny.

"Um, blame Giselle, one of the cooks for that. Still scared of thunder, though, and I can actually sing now!"

There was great retort right on the tip of his tongue--until she got to the part about the mice cleaning her room. And the ability to sing. Gippal just stared at her, mouth dropping open, as if she'd grown a spare pair of heads.

"Who are you and what'd you do with Rikku?"

Rikku glared at him. "Okay, the mice are a little weird. But why can't I learn how to sing, huh? Mama had a great singing voice!" What meanie. What was wrong with her learning how to sing? It was crucial sometimes as an actress!

Gippal executed a shrug, with his hands up as a sign of surrender. "Nothing really. No need to get your panties in a wad, Miss Songstress." Really, the singing wasn't all that strange. Doubtful, but not strange. The mice on the other hand boggled him.

"Hmph. Giselle has a better voice than me, so don't be a smarty-britches," Rikku grumbled. "Are you done being a carnivore?"

"Hmm..." Gippal started off, as if really thinking about that question. "I guess if we're out, I can quit." He patted his stomach thoughtfully. "You got something else you'd rather be doin'?"

Rikku smiled flirtatiously. "Maybe~" she teased. "But it'd involve you, don't worry!"

"Oh really?" Gippal leaned in closer. "Like what?"

Giggling, Rikku leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Buy us both some ice-cream?" she replied.

Well that was unexpected. She's certainly never done anything like that before. Not that he minded at all, and it was closer to what he had in mind to do for recreation than... ice cream. He stared at Rikku a good while trying to figure out if she meant anything by the kiss, then decided, probably not. "Buttering me up for ice cream?" Heaving a dramatic sigh and looking totally heartbroken about it, he stood up and offered her his hand. "C'mon, Miss Sweettooth."

"Oh, don't look so much like a kicked puppy," Rikku warned, taking Gippal's hand. "You like ice cream as much as I do."

Geez, she kissed him, and he didn't even respond. What the heck was wrong with Gippal?! Usually if any girl kissed him, he would 'make an ass of himself', as Pops put it. Where was the fun in playing and flirting with Gippal if he didn't respond?

Gippal smirked and then gave Rikku's hand a tug to pull her closer, so he could snake the other arm around her. "Yeah, but ice cream ain't what I had in mind, Rikku." He leaned in and rested his forehead against hers. "When'd you turn into such a tease, anyway?" Well that nailed what his problem was. Goofing off and flirting was all well and good, as long as it was on his part and not being turned around on him.

"Gip, I'm eighteen, and I did have a boyfriend after leaving, even he dumped me, the stupid jerk," Rikku replied. "I picked up a few things, and besides ninety percent of the guys on the ship flail when I flirt with them, so it's fun most of the time." She looked up at Gippal, a little worried. "Does it bug you?"

Heck yes it bothered him, but no way he was going to tell her that. Instead, he turned her loose without so much as a peck on the head. "Nah, do what you want. Just don't come cryin' to me when some guy takes you seriously." He could tease right back, in really rotten ways. "Can't wait to get my hands on those lovely parts though."

Hers or the ship's, he didn't elaborate.

The fact he didn't really respond to her teasing and her confession almost...hurt, sort of. And then that mean barb.

"Maybe I want some guy to take me seriously one day," she retorted. Rikku completely ignored his parts comment, since, knowing Gippal, it probably had a double meaning.
