Raidou happened to be making his way up to the deck at that moment - the boy detective was doing another full round of the ship, taking notes on what needed to be done prior to the plane races.

He was not expecting to find one of his crew mates up there. Wearing butterfly wings.

For a second there, he had thought that the man was some sort of eccentric demon. A VERY eccentric demon.

That crew mate being the quartermaster mustn't have helped the shock at all, probably. It really showed the difference between those on board, hm~?

Again he motioned over, inviting him for tea happily. Everyone deserved to enjoy this beautiful day.

...Was that an invitation? Raidou, of course, naturally hesitated. For one, he was not used to being invited by anyone, For another... that man seemed like a league all on his own, compared to the people the boy was used to dealing with.

Nonetheless, he came forward.

No one was really used to Zhang He yet. Perhaps Watson but they'd talked just a little bit more so the flamboyant mans eccentricities were really expected by now. Oh. And Luppi, but they really weren't too different now were they?

"Would you care to join me for tea~? It's quite beautiful out and I see no reason to work all day during such wonderful weather!"

A very low, very polite bow.

Oh this one was just too formal, wasn't he? "There's no need for bowing, honestly! It is not becoming on anyone and I feel too much like an arrogant prude." Again He smiled before motioning to the spar chair he had set up. "We never really had the chance to formally meet in person, have we?"

"No, sir, not yet."

It was... truly intimidating, this sort of treatment. Precisely because Raidou did not know how to handle it. Humans really did boggle him.

Nonetheless, the boy came forward and sat down, taking a moment to arrange himself accordingly.

"Raidou, correct~? It's nice to formally meet you then! Have a cup of tea! It's deliciousm especially with such beautiful weather!"

Someone being intimidated by kindness was odd to him, really. Who in the world treated someone--- oh right!

"There's no need to be so formal, it's quite alright. Unless of course acting formal comes natural to you?"

"I... suppose it does."

Raidou had never really thought about it before. He had always assumed that it was the way people were supposed to act.

"If it's the natural way for you to act then it's fine~. Being casual once in a while is nice, too, of course." He smiled and took a sip of his own tea.

"I hope you haven't had any troubles on the ship?"

"None so far, sir."

Raidou took a sip from his own cup as well.

"That's beautiful news! I had a couple of issues when I first arrived so I'm glad!" He really probably was a bit too enthusiastic for his own good.

"If I may ask...?"

"I'm quite eccentric as you can tell~. Oh! And the painting job hasn't earned me many friends."

He offered another smile. "But it's more beautiful this way!"

Raidou's tone was neutral, more because he could not really understand the concept of friendship than anything else.

...That, and he was not very confident in his ability to appreciate aesthetics. His companion was probably much better at that.
