Caught off-guard after finishing his own meal, Kira turned to the one who'd jostled him. He had no wish to argue over something as insignificant as who was at fault, though he was reluctant to apologize for another's mistake. "I..."

But there was something familiar about the other man that caused his mouth to snap shut. Kira's brow furrowed with thought. No, it couldn't have been someone from the military. Perhaps from earlier than that: his days in Bellcius academy. Come to think of it, there was someone.

"...Kanda-kun?"

Kanda raised an eyebrow at being called 'kun', no one but his sister called him that. Although he remembered another from Bellcius Academy... it couldn't be.

"...Kira Izuru?" he said realising that it was, the hair and the same mostly depressing.

Kira nodded, a note of friendly surprise in his voice. "So it is you. This is unexpected."

To meet a childhood acquaintance, and one so estranged, on a ship like this-- unexpected was an understatement.

"What brought you to this ship?"

"Lets talk elsewhere," said Kanda not really giving Kira the option as he turned and wandered out of the Galley, he headed for the deck.

They hadn't been that close at the Academy, they had worked together a few times. Kanda had been impressed with Kira everytime. He seemed smart and sensible.

Stepping out onto the deck wind picking up, Kanda's ponytail danced in the wind. Reaching the railing. He turned to see if Kira had followed him out onto the deck.
