Content: The recent terrorist attack has the Quartermaster unsettled, though not for the same reasons as most.

There was something liberating about the rush of the wind that came with an airship in flight. Something untainted and wild. Thankfully, his duties aboard ship gave him a convenient excuse to be out often. Today, however, he was on the deck for other reasons. The quartermaster was troubled--as much of Reial was--by the recent attack on Ivona's Parliament and the death of the president. His reasons, however, were far different. For the first time since he had begun his work, his real work, and not the sham of a military career he pursued, he felt lost and uncertain. How had this happened without his knowledge? Who had the power to sweep in an do things he had not been able to accomplish despite years of careful planning and hard work?
The answers stubbornly refused to reveal themselves, and he found himself pulled further from current events and backwards towards his violent adolescence and the chaos that had erupted with his teacher's death. Katsura's hand tightened on the rail as the same feelings of frustration and uncertainty rushed through him. He couldn't let this happen again, couldn't lose everything again. Remaking Ivona in his beloved teacher's memory was the only thing that had kept him going for years now, he couldn't let it all be pulled out from under him. Not now.
The wind whipped his hair and clothes around him as he stared into the hazy distance. There was nothing he could do, for the moment. Once they were in Bellcius, he would get his bearings. He'd revise his plans. He wouldn't let himself be defeated so easily.
