Sadly, Alfred and Matt needed their wounds cleaned properly. She carefully headed over and shook them awake. "Matt, Alfred, wake up."

He looked up at Penelo and after a moment it registered that ...Penelo was a doctor and she was trying to wake up Alfred. This was only going to end badly. Matt shifted to his side and watched his brother, making sure he was ready when his brother inevitably panicked.

Penelo was nice from a distance. Up close, Alfred didn't know what to do about her. Sure, she acted nice, but... could she really be trusted?!

"Alfred, calm down. I need to check your wounds, and Matt's too," she explained. "I won't make it worse. I can't promise not to hurt you, but..."

Matt sat up, shifting the weight away from his injured leg and made to hold Alfred back so he wouldn't try to escape. "Listen to what she says, Alfred, she's here to help."

Alfred tried to use his brother as a shield (-Hey, was that traitor actually trying to hold him down?!), but soon realized that he was pretty much a human equivalent to a turtle stuck on its back. There really wasn't any way for him to get up and out of this bed without hurting himself more. Every way he looked, pain seemed to be in his near future!

But not for long because Penelo's next words had him cringe. Dammit. "I ...got better?"

Al turned to Penelo, still not buying her story. "Nuh-uh! No he didn't! You should do his first, Pen!" he said, pointing at Matt.

With that, Matthew worked his way off the bed, making sure not to put any weight on his injury and somehow hobble his way back to his bed.
He meant to continue making faces at Alfred some more but the last thing she said caught his attention instead. "...Oh, no." He paled, "Francis is going to kill me."

"Yes, I did, and to Francis. Matt's post for help was public, and the two of them were panicking until I said I was taking care of it," she explained. The boys were lucky she'd already stitched them up in their sleep---the wounds just needed a more through cleaning and bandaging. "Sit up, Alfred."

He really should have taken care to lock that post. There hadn't been any time, to but he should have still done something. He really hoped Francis wasn't going to Maman about this. He couldn't imagine what that might do to her poor heart.
He sighed. He needed to talk to him eventually, though. "Ah ...Penelo, you didn't happen to find my journal out there, did you?"
Reply
...Oh, right. The journals. He didn't want his back. He kind of liked having a reason not to confront... certain people just yet. "We don't need them back right away. It's probably better if we just rest without the distraction, you know?"
