Characters: Marluxia, Larxene, and anyone who drops in Content: Marluxia and Larxene get set to board the ship that will be their new home. Setting: Bydan port, outside the 4423. Time: ...When it's in port. Warnings: None for now.
Dimo noticed the two unfamiliar people standing at the gangplank of the 4423, and decided to have a bit of fun with them. As silently as someone who'd had decades of experience as a scout could, he crept up behind the individual with the outlandishly colored scythe, grinning to himself. He knew that Jenka could see him from where she was, and that she wouldn't give him away.
He muttered, very close to the person's ear, "Vhat a pretty scythe. Hyu get it to match hyu hair, sveethot?"
[ooc: Just to check, Dimo is coming up behind them while Jenka is still present with the group, right? Just making sure, since they boarded the 4423 after meeting with Jenka (thanks to Penelo), so I assume it's going on at the same time as Larxene is talking to her?]
Marluxia narrowed his eyes when he heard the voice behind him. Hm. Well, somebody thought he was being funny and, judging by the accent, it was another one of those blasted Jägermonsters. Was the crew comprised entirely of the things?
"Pink or not, it's got a very keen edge." He said succinctly, deciding against dismissing it just yet.
With Larxene occupied by the female Jäger and this new one addressing him, it was adequate to say that he wasn't going to stand around unarmed, just in case.
(ooc: Yep, sounds good to me. Should this thread just be between Marluxia and Dimo, then?)
A half-step to the side, and Dimo could look the owner of the amusing weapon more or less face-to-face. It looked to be well-made, but, well...it was still a far rosier hue than most weapons that he'd seen. Ever. Cocking his head to the side, Dimo looked the blade over as he answered.
"Dot it does. Means hyu eidder takes very goot care of it after each battle, or," he added, grinned from ear to pointed ear, "hyu doezn't use it much, und iz just for show. Hyu izn't planning on testing it out here, iz hyu?"
(ooc: I think so. If they cross over as the Jägers move on, Jenka and Larxene are free to jump into this one. =3)
Marluxia cocked an eyebrow, but otherwise looked completely unfazed. He studied the olive face of the man to the side of him without showing fear, despite the disturbing set of teeth that were on show. Well, when you were in his line of work, being afraid of people got you nowhere.
"It is always prudent to keep the tools of one's trade in good condition," he told him, making it as clear as possible that it was not just for show. Sure, it was a ridiculous item, but it was still a blade and he could still use it very skillfully. "I don't, however, plan to use it here unless I am given reason to."
He raised his head a fraction and looked down at the man, not looking as unsettled as he really should. If he intends to join the crew that he belongs to, he couldn't go around looking scared, right? That, and he'd already been faced with one Jäger already. The fact that Dimo didn't drop out of the sky was a small mercy after
"Goot plan," Dimo replied with a sharp, gravelly laugh. He stayed where he was, fully aware that the other man was studying him and sizing him up. Best to not brag, but to let one's abilities speak for themselves. It was a lesson that he'd learned well as a Jager, and he was willing to bet that this stranger knew a thing or two about it from the way that he phrased things. Fingering one of the knives in his bandolier as he took the other fellow in in return, Dimo gave a curt nod. "Iz alvays best to have a goot reason for a fight. Not dere izn't lots of tings dot vorks as goot reasons for a fight..."
"Hyu two joining de crew, den, or just looking at de ship?"
Adjusting his grip on the scythe resting on his shoulder, Marluxia gave Dimo a calculating look. He was right, lots of things about the situation did work as perfectly good reasons. The drawing of weapons and the general, hackles-up responses to each other were perfectly open to interpretation as aggressive behaviour, but he didn't really want to fight. For somebody like Marluxia, getting into a difficult scuffle simply wasn't worth it unless there was a large amount of cash waiting at the other side.
"We intend to join," he told him, not sounding any more apprehensive about his decision despite the appearance of the two Jägers.
Suddenly, Dimo was all smiles, and genuinely friendly ones at that. "Goot man!" he exclaimed, thumping Marluxia soundly on the back with the hand that had just seconds before been threatening to draw a knife. He was nowhere near using all of the strength that he had, but he wasn't about to go easy on the new guy, either. Really--despite however good he might be with it, the guy had a pink scythe. Keeping his left hand on the new crew member's right shoulder, he offered his right to shake. "I iz Dimo, vun of de better pipples to go to on de ship if hyu vants goot booze. Vhat's hyu name, keed?"
Marluxia's teeth gritted behind closed lips at that hearty thump. If that is what spending time around rough and ready pirates was going to be like, he had to ensure a high position for himself, that was even more imperative now. He gave the man a smile and, though it was warm and friendly, anybody looking hard enough would see that it didn't quite reach his eyes.
Even so... Kid?
"Marluxia." He told him. Him and his lady friend might be on the run from former allies, but he wasn't going to stoop to assuming a pseudonym, of all things.
Speaking of, he spared a glance for Larxene, who seemed to be getting on disappointingly well with the Jäger female. How typical of her. Still, given that he'd been greeted and had been introduced to this crew member, he decided it would only be prudent to dismiss his weapon and, in one easy movement, the scythe dissolved into many hundreds of petals that promptly blew away and fizzled into nothing.
"Have you been a member of this crew long?" He asked, rather curiously.
Dimo raised his eyebrows, a bemused expression on his face, as the scythe dissolved. Was the kid a minor Spark, or something of the sort? They often decided to have themes to their outfits and actions, and from the looks of it, Marluxia was rather interested in pretty flowers. Roses in particular, he thought. Now, whether he'd turn out to be any better at world domination than the Magnetic Prince or the Soldiers of Song, but he'd see what happened. He wasn't certain whether to laugh or to be impressed that the guy had the balls to pick something so...well, so girly as a theme...
"About seven months now," Dimo replied, still grinning in amusement. "Und Jenka, even less. But Maxim und Mamma Gkika, vell, dey's been vith de ship for since I haz been here." He neglected to add that he'd known Mamma and Maxim both for longer than either Marluxia or his lady friend had been alive. They'd hear about it eventually, after all. No need to rush. "I haz been here long enough to know my vay around, though, und to know de chain of
Marluxia didn't see anything bad about his interest in flowers and plants. Beyond the weaponry aspect, growing plants (specifically ones of the poisonous or carnivorous varieties) was a hobby of his. He'd always had something of a magical green thumb, ever since childhood, so bringing his talent to the battlefield wasn't something he saw any shame in, especially if he could kill people with it. No matter how girly or faggy the general perception of flowers was, he didn't see a problem with them.
He nodded at Dimo's words. "It has something of a bad reputation, but I shan't let that put me off." Neither the bad rep or the slightly unsettling presence of the Jägermonsters were going to be able to put the idea of joining the crew out of his head.
"Ja," Dimo replied, shaking his head sadly, "ve doezn't do nearly as much raiding as ve should be doing. Ve's hardly even 'real' pirates, to my vay of tinking, but mebbe dot picks up in de future. Had a goot raid a few months back, zo mebbe Madame Captain vill zee fit to get us zome more like dot."
It didn't even occur to Dimo that his train of thought with regards to Marluxia's choice of colors was a little hypocritical. Dimo himself was the one in a relationship with another man, after all.
"Been looking for vork long, den? De two of hyu looks like hyu's been traveling for a vhile."
Marluxia, unlike Dimo, was not that way inclined, despite the unfortunate colour scheme and magical element. He wouldn't think it of Dimo either, if he harboured a tendency to speculate about the sexuality of other people.
"Long enough. The badlands were less hospitable than we thought they would be." He told him, trying to keep the weariness from his tone.
After leaving Kropmork after the trouble with the Organization, Marluxia and Larxene hadn't stayed in one place too long, just in case they were followed. As such, a ship was the ideal place for them and one full of supposed criminals was the perfect place for them to hide, not that he would be going into the details of their circumstances with anybody who didn't need to know.
"How hospitable did hyu tink de Badlands vas going to be?" Dimo queried, a mixed look of amusement and astonishment on his face. "Dey's called dot for a reason, hyu know. I did zome vork dere, und tough as ve Jagerkin iz, dere vas times vhen it vas not zo pleazant for me, too." The loneliness of being away from the rest of his pack had added to that, of course, but that was something that Dimo kept to himself.
"Vell, hyu might go und zee Vinry to get hyu two settled in, den," he continued. "I gots zome supplies to help de galley cooks vith unpacking, but she can get hyu all zet up und cozy-like." With a big, toothy smile, he gave his newest crewmate another heavy-handed pat on the shoulder for good measure, unaware of the position that Marluxia was coming on board to fill. "Zee hyu around den, eh Marly?" And with that, he strode purposefully off and below decks.
He muttered, very close to the person's ear, "Vhat a pretty scythe. Hyu get it to match hyu hair, sveethot?"
