Content: Its nothing but a simple game of chess. What's there to think about?
Setting: Kristoph's quarters, the Victoria II.
Time: The day before Amicus, afternoon.
Warnings: Two Magnificent Glorious Bastards getting together. You know where this will go.
Kristoph Gavin sighed as he glanced at the chess board in front of him. This puzzle was particularly troublesome to solve, and he hadn't figured out the solution yet even though it had been fifteen minutes since he started to time himself. Usually he'd be able to solve it within thirteen minutes; it was pretty troublesome when he crossed his average time. But this puzzle was proving to be quite the trickster.
Putting the king there... no, that'd be a checkmate. The queen can't move either since that pawn is lilable to move up and become a rook... hrm. The quartermaster frowned as he gave the chessboard another look over again. Really, this was getting quite annoying...
Though, at least nothing was liable to disturb him anytime soon. Most of the crew were off due to the Amicus season - and Kristoph himself, having nothing to do in his household (and Klavier now away to who-knows-where as always) the man had contented himself to being on the ship to settle loose paperwork. That had been settled pretty quickly, and in boredom the man had taken to solving chess puzzles to entertain himself until dinnertime or otherwise. It had been an hour since he'd started, and he already solved four puzzles one after another. But this fifth one was proving to be a bit more challenging.
The man sighed as he leaned back in his chair, careful not to aggravate his injured shoulder as he did so and worked his brain as he tried to figure out the answer to the puzzle.
