Hiyori, as was to be expected, did not react to the disappearance of their 'leader' very well.

A lot of things had happened between Kensei's discovery of the note and her entering the room. Furniture had been broken, a storm had hit the area, the others in their group had filtered in and responded to the news in their own way.

Hiyori'd come down after everybody else. She'd had a late night. Unable to sleep, she'd spent it on the roof, talking to Shinji. He'd cheered her up, he'd hugged her and he'd made her feel safe; a rare thing when you were constantly on the run like they were. It was when she'd entered their little living room the next morning that she knew that something was wrong. She'd found her companions standing around, looking like somebody close to them had passed away suddenly in the night ( ... )

The silver-haired man was broken from his thoughts and ponderings when Hiyori appeared onto the rooftop, perking up and glancing sideways at the girl as she came to settle alongside him. He was pretty aware that Hiyori hadn't taken the news all too well - hell, most likely she had been the most affected once among the seven of them. The moment she had laid her eyes on the note, the girl had bolted through the door and had disappeared for the whole day.

Until now, that was.

There was something of an unamused snort coming from Kensei in response as the man turned his head to look at her properly as the girl came over to sit down beside him. "Took you long enough to come back," he muttered, the relief in his voice betraying the seemingly annoyed look on his face. He understood that Hiyori did need her space, but if she had stayed out any longer Kensei was more the ready to bolt out as well and search for her and Shinji.

She was scowling. Well, she always scowled. This time, however, there was significantly less fire behind it. It wasn't so much her permanently angry look, rather it was more a sad one. She didn't seem herself.

"Yeah, I know." Her words came roughly, like those spoken by somebody suffering from a sore throat.

She drew her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them tightly. The chilly bite in the air from the previous night still lingered, but it was accompanied by the fresh, damp smell of recently fallen rain.

Kensei always scowled too - well, it was more of a frown rather than a scowl, but that was part of his demeanor. His time with the Ivona government had affected him in more ways than one; the biggest, of course, being their Hollows. It haunted the silver-haired man even until now, and he was sure it was still haunting every one of them as well. They might have managed to control it, but there was always the chance of the monsters breaking free from their cages and taking control of them once more. Just like that time.

The man was silent as Hiyori curled up against the chilling cold, the combination of cold weather and cooling breeze from the rain earlier almost freezing up the whole atmosphere. Kensei breathed out loudly though his nose, a fine wisp of mist trailing into the night sky at the action before he finally spoke. "Well, at least you came back." Unlike that asshole who vanished on us all.
