Things just kept getting better for him! First a nice stay in a really good prison that was exactly as dark as it should be, and now an interrogation! Though Dimo knew that this was serious business, he couldn't help but be amused by the situation. These people really didn't know too much about Jagerkin, did they? Whatever torture methods they were going to use would, at most make him wince a bit. And after all, it wasn't as though he'd actually had anything to do with the poisoning of Doma. They'd see that, he'd have some fun, and it would all be good.

Striding confidently along with the guards, he walked into the barren room without any resistance. He knew that, if he needed to, he could easily take out the interrogator and possibly the guards and get out of here. He lazily sat down in the chair, a cocky smile on his face, and folded his arms across his chest.

The investigator fixed his eyes on Dimo's every move as he entered the room and sat down across from him.

He smiled back in response, his smile holding just a bit of an edge. "Pretty confident, huh? Know something I don't?"

Dimo's smile grew wider at the hard grin that he was greeted with, showing off his sharp fangs. His opponent was just as ready for this as he was.

This should be good.

"Und hyu's suppozed to be de schmott vun here," he said, shaking his head in mock pity. "But hyu schtill tinks dot ve poizoned all dose pipple. I know ve didn't."

The investigator's smile wavered a bit at Dimo's grin, but just as quickly he brought it back. "Now now. We can't prove that either way yet, can we? That's why we're sitting here, you and I. We want to find out the truth. You're gonna help us do that, right?"

"Sure, zounds goot. But iz hyu gonna believe me, even vhen I tells hyu de truth?" That was the question, wasn't it? Dimo had no reason to lie. Not really. He'd save his own hide and that of the other Jagerkin, and that was what counted. That, and finding out if interrogations were still carried out properly these days.

"Zo, vhat hyu gots for me forst?" Dimo belted out a short, sharp laugh. "Go ahead, I doesn't bite dot hard."

"Can't say. That really depends on your buddies and the rest of the evidence we find. Just tell me the truth and we'll worry about the rest later."

The investigator's mouth twitched. "I have reason to doubt that with that set of teeth of yours."

He cleared his throat, looking down at the paper in front of him quickly and looking up again. "Let's start this way. Tell me in your own words what you did that day, the day the 4423 was in Doma."

"Vell," Dimo amended, "Not vithout goot reason, at least. Und I don't gots vun right now, zo hyu's pretty safe."

"Vhat I did dot day? In de morning, dere vas an amateur chocobo race. Vent to dot, cheered on a couple of friends, made zome bets on de later race, und lost zome money from dose bets. Later on, I got into a pie eating contest put togedder by anodder friend from de ship, und den I vent back on board de 4423 und got drunk und had sex." Easy enough, then.

"...Good to know," he said after a moment's pause.

"So you went to the chocobo race? About how long were you there, would you say?"

"Hmmm." He'd have to think about this one. Dimo had honestly been so busy laughing at the antics of the tempermental birds and their unfortunate riders that he'd sort of lost track of time. "Let's zee...an hour, mebbe two? I vas laughing zo hard at de pipple vht fell off de bords dot I can't really remember."

The investigator nodded. That fit. "There were other members of the crew at that race as well. Do you recall any of them?"

Holding out one large, clawed hand in front of him, Dimo counted out the other members of his crew who'd been there that he could remember. "Mamma Gkika und Maxim vas dere, of courze, und zo vas Meester Kambei, Anko, Souji, Hijikata, Pip, Reno, und Utena. Dot I can remember, at least." He gave the investigator an calm and clearly unworried smile. "Hyu doesn't suspect any of dem, does hyu? Or does hyu suspect de whole damn ship?"

The investigator quickly scrawled down each person as Dimo named them, nodding his head a few times.

The investigator gave a wry smile. "It's my job to suspect. It's your job to tell me the truth. To save your ship, right? We've both got our own agendas here."

There was a reason that Dimo didn't get into political discussions. Everyone had an agenda, and they wouldn't always tell you what they were. Commanding troops was different. There, so long as you did well and took out the other guy first, you got to have some fun killing people, looting, and burning the whole thing down when you were done. Politics was the slow, boring way of killing someone by slaughtering their reputation. Not nearly as much fun as actually slaughtering them.

Shrugging his shoulders, Dimo pulled his chair up closer to the table, leaning his elbows on it. This put him almost face to face with the investigator. Here, any agenda that either one of them had would be plain and obvious. You'd be able to see it on the other person's face. "Ja, save my ship, save my friends, all dot goot schtuff, right? Vhat's next?"

"A real hero," the investigator responded with a snort, obviously not entirely convinced. He was almost making light of it, like it was a great joke.

"What's next? How about you tell me. You said you..." Here he looked over his notes again, "Hah, you had a pie eating contest, right? Where was that? Back on the ship?"

Dimo threw his head back and laughed. He'd never been accused of being a hero before, that was for certain. "Nah, not a hero," he said derisively. "I iz slightly less full of holes den dey usually iz at de end of de day. Vhere I comes from, 'hero' usually means 'cannon fodder'." At least this guy had sense of humor, even if there didn't seem to be any real interrogation going on yet. He wondered vaguely when they'd get to the thumbscrews and the rack...

"De pie-eating contest?" Dimo shook his head. "It vas in de town, near to de marketplace. Gorobei had a little table set op in de center of de town for it und everyting."

"Ah, it's pretty much the same here. The old men who managed to survive the skirmishes we've had with Ivona count their scars like trophies. I don't have any sort of trophies like that yet. This is a 'peaceful' time, isn't it?" He put emphasis on the word 'peaceful.' Heh, what a joke that was.

"How long were you at this pie eating contest? And then continue from there. Oh, and you can skip the part about the sex. Anything happen after that before the 4423 shipped out?"
