Gwendal had been attracted to the mess hall by the smell of the food. He'd honestly hadn't eaten in awhile and he really ought to. However, he want one for social gatherings but he supposed this time it couldn't be helped.

He avoided the alcohol for now and settled for tea, picking only a small portion of food for now and finding a relatively secluded spot to eat. Leaning against his hand, he pushed his braided hair behind his back and ate.

Gwendal felt insanely tired today but he honestly didn't want to go to bed. Not yet. He sipped his tea and ate idly, lost in thought.

"You look as enthusiastic about this little gathering as I am," Nikolas commented idly as he walked up to where Gwendal was sitting and took a seat himself. He had really only come down there to eat. He usually preferred the solitude of his room to company, but he'd expended a lot of energy forcibly removing pirates from the ship, and then aiding with the clean-up, and the easiest way to replenish it was with a good meal. There were, of course, faster ways of doing it, but those were decidedly less unpleasant.

Normally, he would have simply left the strategist to himself, but the man seemed pleasant enough, and more importantly, not prone to large amounts of chit-chat, which Nikolas could appreciate. "If I'm bothering you, I can move elsewhere."

He blinked when he heard the voice. He hadn't heard the other man approach at all. "Had I known it would be such a large affair, I would have gotten here sooner to avoid the crowd," Gwendal replied, shrugging lightly.

He shook his head, sipping his tea. "No, you're not. My mind was just elsewhere."

"That would have been a wise move," Nik agreed. He hadn't expected quite so many people, himself. But after all the chaos, he supposed everyone needed to unwind a bit.

"You look like you came out of the fight okay," he commented idly. He'd lost track of the people who'd been helping to repair that first hole in the ship when absolute chaos had broken out. He'd been hoping no one would get injured, but he hadn't had the time to check in on everyone yet.

"Mmhmm," Gwendal nodded. "I'm fine, just exhausted. My mana had nearly run out, so it's taking some time to replenish."

After the fight near the infirmary, he'd pretty much lost track of everything. The free fall had him nearly passing out but he had managed to keep his consciousness in tact until he was treated.

Gwendal was all but fully healed and tired. But all in all, he was fine. "And yourself? You seem to have come out unscathed."

Nik nodded a little, sympathetically. While he hadn't exactly exhausted his own energy reserves, he had depleted them far more quickly than he usually liked to. "We're going to be in port soon, should be plenty of time for everyone to recover." At least, he hoped the crew would take the time to recover and not get themselves into trouble in Kropmork.

"I took a little damage, but I heal very quickly, thankfully." Usually within minutes, if it was minor, but he didn't think that needed to be elaborated on at the moment. "As much as I hate to say it, I did enjoy the fight."

"How fortunate for you," Gwendal said wryly. He was only lucky the wound wasn't as deep as originally thought. "I wish I could say the same, but it's not bad. The fight was certainly exhilarating, if a bit tight in the corridors."

Very tight.

"Kropmark, is it? I haven't been there in awhile..." He murmured, leaning onto his chin again.

"Sometimes fortunate, sometimes a curse," he replied cryptically. "The halls aren't the best place for an altercation, it's true," he agreed. "We got rid of them, that's the important thing."

"Same. I don't care much for the city," he admitted, "but I suppose it will give us a chance to make sure the damage to the ship isn't serious."

"I suppose," Gwendal agreed, though his own fortunate curse was different. He could die at the hands at any other man, but left to his own devices? Who knew when he could die of old age? "No, the halls usually never are. I'm just glad the pirates are gone. I haven't seen that many in years."

"Kropmark is really only useful when one needs to make an emergency stop, otherwise I see no other reason to go there," He said. "As long as we don't lose our money in the process, if anyone leaves the ship."

"There were two ship's worth of them," Nikolas observed. "That probably accounts for their numbers. It's not often the Silvana gets boarded, I have to give them credit for that." Not that it had done them any good in the end... they were dead now, anyway.

"Nor do I, honestly. It's not a particularly pleasant city to be in. I'm sure the captain will manage to keep everyone in line for our stay, at any rate."

"Yes, I know, they were a determined bunch," Gwendal agreed. "Oh well, we'll see what happens in Kropmark soon enough. At best, we'll only be there for a couple days."

"Just long enough for this damnable holiday, I suspect," Nik replied with something akin to a pained look. "Which will probably be a hundred times worse in a place like that." It was safe to say that Nikolas was not the sort who cared for romantic frivolity.

"Tch," Gwendal grunted. "No kidding. I just hope our stay is very, very short."

He finished the last of his tea and food and carefully pushed himself up. "I think I will head outside for some fresh air. It was nice speaking with you."

Nikolas nodded as Gwendal got up to take his leave. "Likewise. Enjoy the rest of your day."

That kid was still chasing him? Seriously? Joshua wouldd just have to put up more distractions. But he was so busy dodging flung food (luckily he hadn't been hit with anything that would stain, otherwise Joshua would be Not Happy) and ducking behind people and just looking around for a way to make his great escape, that he didn't notice one of the two men by the table he was approaching stand up.

Joshua crashed into the dark grey haired man, and he reflexively put out his free hand to balance himself, pushing against Gwendal's side. All the while, he kept a stubborn grip on his plate with the cake on it.

Gwendal fell heavily to the ground, his plate and cup crashing to the floor. When he felt Joshua's hand land directly onto his tender and nearly healed wound, he really wanted to curl up around the flaring pain.

Instead, he bit off a cry and pulled the boy's hand away from the wound. "What do you think you're doing?!"
