While Venus had her plots and plans, Edgeworth had his own work to take care of. Repairs on the ship were under way, the city was in the process of being cleared of the rubble and restored, and that damn boatswain was finally going to be put in his place. All in all, he had been quite productive. There was just one thing he needed ( ... )

Elysia was lost in thought as she wandered about a tad aimlessly. It has been a day or so since she sent her last message to General Wisemen and there has been no word from Confederacy as of late. Perhaps they were looking into the whole matter of the bombings now themselves, the bombings that took place during Lunasa. She was sure that the general would contact her again soon but Elysia wasn't too sure if Wisemen would risk contacting her while she is here on enemy territory...

"Ow!"

Some louse knocked right into her, nearly sending her falling off that high-heels of her if she didn't have such impeccable balance. She growled a little as she fixed her long blond hair back, her bright blue eyes glaring at him slightly. "Watch it, bu--" The woman suddenly trailed off for a second once recognized his face.

"...Oh! Oh, s-sorry! I didn't see you." Elysia giggled nervously despite the fact her mind was now in total shock.

Miles Edgeworth...

"There's no need to apologize." Edgeworth's voice was stiff, and his eyes darted to the side as he brushed himself off. "I should have been more attentive." It was true, and he was embarrassed to admit it. There was no excuse for this mistake.

He looked back at her, and asked, "Are you alright?" Edgeworth wasn't a complete cad; he would make sure everything was fine, and then go his own way.

"Oh..." Elysia was actually unsure how to answer Edgeworth's question at first, unsure if she should play her cards or not. She could just let him go off into the city never to be seen again but something told her she had a prime opportunity before to gain information. So, in an attempt to not loose this precious chance of digging her claws into the First Officer's skin, the fake reporter decided to put on a charming smile as she answered him.

"Well, I am a little...lost." The beautiful blond said as she batted her long eyelashes. "You see, I was trying to figure out how to get to my uncle's shop in town." Elysia smiled more at Edgeworth, a friendly smile.

"You see, I am not from around here! I am visiting family..."

Great, she was lost. This was just what the city needed: people wandering around like fools, without any idea where they were going. Well, it would do no good for her to walk about aimlessly. The cleanup effort had enough problems as it was.

If the cute, innocent look on her face had any affect, Edgeworth showed no sign of it. He resisted the urge to grit his teeth, and asked calmly, "Do you have any idea where it is?" The least he could do was point the woman in the right direction.

Doing her best to play the role of the 'clueless damsel', Elysia shook her head for a moment looking quite puzzled before shuffling around in her skirt pocket for a fictional piece of paper. "Um...I think I lost the directions." The woman said with a sheepish smile as she gazed at Edgeworth with such a questionable gaze.

"I know its suppose to be in the shopping district but...um.." This would have take a lot of acting on her part if she wanted this situation to go her way. "My uncle owns a bookstore in town, its called 'Lucario's Books'!" Elysia was lucky that she remembered the name of a bookstore from a flyer hanging along the walls of the Winding Way.

Edgeworth ignored her as she shifted around and searched for her paper, and made sure to keep his eyes on her face (modern fashion was getting more and more immodest, but honestly, this woman's taste was just ridiculous). The longer she took, the more impatient Edgeworth became, and he could feel the irritation grow under his calm demeanor. Perhaps, had he lived a different life, he would have been more sympathetic; however, years spent traveling from city to city had hammered certain things into his head since he was a child. First, one must make sure they know where their belongings are at all times. Second, one shouldn't wander blindly through some place they don't know about, especially when it was this dark. And third, pay attention to your surroundings.Granted, Edgeworth didn't have much room to speak on that last point. He ignored the hypocrisy, and continued to wait for her to finish her search. Finally, she mentioned the name of the place: Lucario's Books. "I believe I know where that is," he said slowly, as he ( ... )

"Carter!" The blond responded cheerfully with a bright smile on her lovely face. "Elysia Carter is the name! Nice to meetcha." She winked at him playfully despite the fact she really wanted to snarl at him. Thank god that this bastard is the chivalrous type or else she wouldn't be able to get the chance to pick his mind a little. Just like any other average man, Edgeworth seems to be the kind of fellow who sometimes thinks with his 'other' head than the one he uses more often. However, Elysia wasn't about to complain since this makes her job so much easier.

"Thank you so much! I think I would just get lost again on my own..." She giggled happily. "But what is your name, sir...?" Elysia tilted her head to the side for a moment as she blinked at him curiously.

"Miles Edgeworth," he replied. "And think nothing of it. Now, lets get going, shall we?" This was not said for the sake of chivalry, so much as for speed. Miles knew that he didn't want to waste time dawdling around here, and he didn't like the idea of Carter wandering around after dark; while Melior was usually safe (if one stayed in the right parts of the city), the recent disaster provided too many opportunities for trouble.

"I believe it's this way." Edgeworth walked forward, expecting Ms. Carter to follow behind.

A pleasant smile that hid all of the gruesome and sinister thoughts appeared upon her lovely face as she hastily followed after Edgeworth. "Thank you so much, Mr. Edgeworth..." Elysia spoke trying to hide the slight laugh she almost choked out. She couldn't believe this was actually happening. To think that the object of all her dislike for this miserable country and it's stinky politics is right here in the flesh, made Venus take a moment to ponder her next move. Of course, she could easily kill him especially since he gave his back to her but something told her not to act too brash just yet ( ... )

It was fairly interesting, what one could find while on a casual walk. It was even more interesting what one could find when on a casual walk to the Victoria II to... observe it.

Of course, the fact that Ocelot was now tracking-Elysia, was it?-and the first mate of the Victoria II put a stop to any observing Ocelot might've done, but this... this was an opportunity.

At the moment, he was in a convenient alleyway adjusting the hood of a coat he'd procured for the occasion-after all, it wouldn't do to have someone on his ship seeing him doing something fairly shady and recognizing him. He kept an eye on Elysia and Edgeworth, planning to exit at the most opportune moment.

Unfortunately, Edgeworth was cursed with a one track mind. Ocelot's appearance escaped his notice, while he focused on the quickest, safe way to escort the lady through the city. He slowed enough to let Elysia catch up, and he walked with her by his side, oblivious to the other spy behind them.

"Unfortunately, yes." Edgeworth couldn't hide the irritation from his voice, and the muscles in his face tensed. "However, that mess is behind us now."

"Oh?" Elysia watched Edgeworth's face for a moment noticing how quickly the other tensed up when she mentioned the spiders. She did her best to hide the smirk that wanted to form upon her lips, grinning mentally to herself as she thought of the many reasons why the First Mate is particularly sore about this current topic. Judging by the article written within 'The Melior Citizen', the Ivonian government wasn't very pleased in how the military responded during the invasion. Not to mention how quickly the press seem to pin blame on that rogue ship, the Silvana, for the debacle that took place ( ... )

Ocelot waited for a moment to make his appearance seem a bit less suspicious-if they were farther away when he slipped out of the alleyway, it'd be easier to make it seem as though he was simply walking in the same direction as them.

Granted, he could probably make things work to his advantage even if they did notice him. After making sure they were a reasonable distance away (but still in earshot,) Ocelot turned out of the alleyway.

"None," he replied. While this wasn't exactly a lie, the truth was complicated. Any actual family Edgeworth had was buried twelve feet underground, and as for the von Karmas, he wasn't going to bring them up unless it was necessary. He supposed he could say that he was traveling with family (while Manfred had always been more of a teacher than a parent, Franziska was more or less the sister-he-never-wanted), but then she'd ask questions about them, and then she'd ask questions about the ship, and then she'd ask questions about the military and nepotism and isn't it a bit strange that you're serving with the both of them? It was a headacheWell, this called for a bit of misdirection. As long as the focus was on her family, he would be alright. Edgeworth turned his head to look at her, but he froze as he caught a sign of movement out of the corner of his eye. It took him a second to realize just what he caught a glimpse of: another man, walking down the streets. That in itself was not unusual, but it was still best not to dawdle ( ... )

Judging by the expression that flickered across Edgeworth's face, Elysia could tell that she touched a nerve during this topic of 'family'. The spy suspected that he wouldn't refer to Admiral von Karma and his prissy daughter as family but she was a little annoyed at how Edgeworth managed to shift the conversation back to her. If she weren't such a clever woman or this little lie here would have fallen apart by now. Luckily, for Elysia, she has a great memory and an even better imagination.

"Oh? I am glad..." Elysia replied with a soft sigh as if she was relieved to hear about the government helping the citizens in Melior.
"My uncle and his family are all that I left. My folks died while I was young, my father died in the military while mom..." She trailed off on purpose to give that added sense of heartache to this little sob story she is creating.

"Well, let's just say that my mom was never the same after that."
