Wandering down the halls of the ship, Kambei found himself heading towards the kitchen at the sound of someone rummaging through the cabinets. Instead of running into one of the many crew mates of this ship, Kambei found himself staring at the back of an all too familiar blond hair samurai. He stood for a moment in pure silence as he watched the other search for throughout the kitchen, idly wondering what could say to Kyuzo. The two of them haven't spoken since their time in Kanna village and Kambei knew he left all too abruptly after their sure victory over the bandits. He always wondered idly if Kyuzo ever planned on making good with his murderous oath and now it that may finally be answered.

There was... Someone in the room. Their footsteps stopped there.

His motions slowed, then ceased as he got the feeling he knew exactly who was watching him. He straightened from where he was and turned his head, just able to piece together the image of the man from the corner of his eye. It didn't take long to put a name to the face; Shimada Kambei, the entire reason he was even on this ship.

He forced down the rush of excitement and anxiousness upon finally seeing him again. Kambei was alive and he would still get his battle. All the wandering and the long weeks away suddenly seemed a little more worth it. It was, perhaps, enough to tide him over for just a little longer.

"We still have a score to settle."

He spoke quietly, and as always, his face betrayed nothing.

There was silence between the two of them after Kyuzo spoke, for Kambei choose not to speak as of yet. He simply eyed the samurai with scrutiny as they stood facing each other after the long year that has passed since Kanna. The old samurai didn’t notice a change at all in Kyuzo’s appearance or demeanor, he looked the same as always with that indifferent glare lurking within his eyes. Kambei knew that Kyuzo intends to make good on his word someday but that did not mean that he would not put up a ‘worthy fight’ against him.

“Yes, I know.” The white clad samurai said as he entered into the kitchen , glancing about at some of the empty shelves that still haven’t been stacked properly with food as of yet. However, there where a few things that Kyuzo could eat scattered about in the kitchen but Kambei knew that food would come second to their conversation now.

“How did you know I was here?” Kambei asked with no emotion shining through in his tone.

Kyuzo's turned a little more to get a better look at Kambei. His eyes stayed fixed on the man's face, but from what he could tell, the older samurai looked about the same as he had when he'd last seen him. Same weathered face, same empty eyes. That same poetry about him that made it seem like Kyuzo'd never left.

His scowl grew just a little longer. The other man made it sound like he'd been purposely hiding away, avoiding his promise. He didn't need to know, as far as Kyuzo was concerned. He had his methods, and he didn't want to let Kambei know what they were in case they had to part ways again. It was a battle for who could remain the more composed and unreadable of the two. He supposed, as his eyes narrowed, that he was the one losing.

"Don't forget." He muttered darkly in warning.

A light chuckle came as a reply to that ominous warning even though he did not find Kyuzo's words to be humorous in the least. He knew why the other samurai is here and Kambei plans to confront Kyuzo in a final duel to set their differences. As much as Kyuzo may brag about claiming his life, Kambei certainly was not going to lax his blade and allow such to happen. Something changed within him since their time in Kanna, something that made this old samurai desire to live again even if it’s only for the promise of battle. If Kyuzo wanted his head, he would have to do much better than he did on the day of their first duel.

"I will never forget." An emotionless reply to the moody statement that the blond samurai given him.

Kyuzo continued to gaze at Kambei for a moment. That was apparently all he needed to hear, however, as he soon turned his back to him and continued what he had been doing before he noticed the other man's presence. He might have looked like he was downright ignoring Kambei at that point, though in reality he was still very aware of anything he was doing.

The mechanic wasn't a liar (his ability to cloak the truth notwithstanding), and so Kyuzo assumed that there was still something that needed to be done before they could have their battle. If there wasn't, he would catch on soon enough and call Kambei out on it. The simple truth of the matter was that Kyuzo wasn't, in his mind, fit to have his fight at the moment. For anyone less he would have dived right in, but for Kambei he needed to be at his best. Tracking the man down had been a more difficult and trying task than he cared to think about. He needed food, rest, and perhaps, more practice with close-combat as opposed to the onslaught of multiple enemies he'd grown used to
