...all anchors raised and the vessel departs, standing all alone yet surrounded by everything, staring back over the distance as the beautiful island fades away into a hazy blue shadow of memories and dreams, always engraven upon my heart. one last sunset beyond the south pacific. one last goodbye. then on-board the flight of return, soaring on to another world, one long since left behind. touchdown landing in LAX, the airport twice the size of the entire country i have just poured my heart into. one lone man, slowly walking from terminal 2 to termianl 7. millions of faces flying by, brand new cars, enourmous building, 8 lane roads, endless noise, ...peace. a heart full of tears, as the vast expanses of eternity engulfy this one insignificant being of existence stepping along amidst the turmoil and combustion. one last connection point, PHX. stepping out into an oven, walking down the tunnel, and the smiling faces of mother and father, brothers and sister, the flash of a camera, the blink of an eye, did i ever really leave, what will become of this life.
longing for a hard cement floor and a woven sleeping mat, the soft sea breeze and the gently hum of mosquitoes, the years of one chapter sealed up to the end, the beginning of a next, though the everlasting legacy of what has gone before and what has yet to come...
