When you say 'knocked me out', what you're actually looking for is 'killed me'. If you don't know what the heck's going on, that means you're a prisoner here, and all the inmates got here by dying back home.

And 'this place' is a prison ship. You're in jail. Try taking a look outside and you'll notice pretty quickly that this is not the Ye Olde Wherever you've come from.
