Depression strikes a young David Benson. Nearing on his twentieth birthday, he realizes things...

-He doesn't think he's a very competent boyfriend.

-He has yet to create something of any use or value.

-He doesn't drive, he doesn't go to school.

-He has trouble seeing value in himself.

In spite of what everyone says, 2007 has already been a longer year than most. Six months without a car, six months without gaining anything but experiences. His money seems to flow away from him, as if he were a faucet.

Troublesome times are ahead, he thinks, but also hope. Alyssa seems to really believe in Dave. His father has put up with his shenanigans thus far. Tom is working with him to actually create something... that might actually mean something. And yet, feelings of dread are closing in.

Dark days are coming, he feels. More than anything, David Benson must find the light side in every stormy night that has been laid before him. Wet eyes, anxiety, it is time for bed... and for what? He's just going to wake up tomorrow to the same thing he's been living for the past two years.

Or, with faith and hope and love on his side, he can face the darkness and prevail gloriously in the battle ahead.

Unfortunately, he's always had a bit of a procrastination problem...

(Be sure to read the next issue of Hero or Loser?: The Story of David Benson... a tale of someone who is trying desperately to see significance in himself. Will he fail or will he come out victorious?)
