Sims 2 Crashes On New Laptop

Hi guys,

I just got a new laptop for Christmas.  It's a Toshiba Satellite C 650 and runs Windows 7 (6.1.7600).  It has 4 GB ram.  I've tried to run the Sims on this computer, and it either crashes or freezes after it is running for a few minutes.  All I've done is installed the base game, Nightlife, Glamour Life, and H&M so far- NO DOWNLOADS.  It loads super fast but then I get into the game, play a few minutes, and then it freezes or a window pops up saying "this program has crashed, and will now be terminated."

I've went to EA tech support and saw somebody else had a similar problem, and they told them to "run it in Windows XP Compatibility mode."  It ended up working for that person.  Well, I tried that AND Vista Mode- it just runs WORSE.  I don't know if my computer is incompatible, or if it's a graphics issue.  I've noticed that sometimes items go black for no reason and my screen flickers occasionally when I attempt to play it.

I don't understand why this is happening because it's a brand new laptop and I'm sure it's fully capable of running this old game.  I played TS2 on my old Vista laptop and it worked fine, so I'm baffled.  Has anybody had a similar problem?  If so, how did you fix it?
