Perma-plat

Okay, so, usually I get my sims perma-plat by fulfilling their lifetime want. However, this particular sim had the want 'Reach Golden Anniversary' however she broke up with her husband long ago and was never remarried. Just recently, I was looking through her memories, and noticed she has perma-plat, and a memory to go with it of achieving it. My ( Read more... )

When you get Free Time, there's a lifetime fulfillment thingamajig (I dunno what it's called, but it's something like that) when it fills up, you get perma-plat! It confused me the first time it happened as well :P

And as I understand the Maxis guide, that's now the only way to get perma-plat -- fulfilling a Lifetime Want in FT won't get you permaplat, it'll only give you a the points boost (which will also have an effect on the Lifetime Aspiration thingy) but not automatically give you permaplat any more.

I've had a different experience: fulfilling a LTW does grant perma-plat in my game. One of my sims achieved their LTW (pop-up stated "Congrats! Amelia has just fulfilled a LTW. As a result, she will be perma-plat"), and I watched their Aspiration meter for over 12 sim-hours and it didn't budge once.

Ah, OK. Thanks for the information. (And it wouldn't be the first time the manual got something wrong, from what I've heard.)

No, it definitely wouldn't :P From my understanding the guides are based on a slightly earlier build then what we're actually playing, so some things which they see as 'truth' don't actually make it in to the final version.
