Are they townies or playables? Sounds like they're in the red, and if they're playables, you might want to get their aspiration level up a bit.

They're other Sims of mine that I play quite frequently so it's unlikely to be low aspirations [though the behaviour is right for that]. It's also only when it's a phone invite.

Come to think of it, I've not seen this happen with one of the Maxis characters.

Maybe you should do more of a controlled experiment. Play a friend of the Sim whose visitors have this problem, give them platinum aspiration, go to the other Sim's place and invite them over, and see what happens. If they don't wig out, you're probably just coincidentally inviting over miserable Sims.

But it depends on whether it always happens or not. If it always happens, you only need to invite over one Sim you know to have platinum. If it's not entirely consistent, you need more Sims.

The only time I have seen them act like chickens is with Apartment Life when I have had a playable Evil Witch (they had a chicken spell)
