On Saturday, Trevor and I went with catchtheball to the One Roof event in Brampton's Powerade Centre. It was absolutely grand. The event was to mark The Meeting House's 25th anniversary, and members of Ontario's Meeting Houses met there to celebrate. We got up at stupid o' clock and got ready to go. We took the YRT to Bantree-Scott and met up with Nikkol, who was on the Uptown Toronto baseball team for the event. One of her teammates, Phil, picked us up from there and drove us to Brampton.

It was really cool to watch Nikkol play. A huge thunderstorm came and got the game called. During this postponement, we along with a large number of members from the team went to Timmies to get something hot to eat and drink. The rain was torrential, creating miniature lakes everywhere we looked. By the time we got back to the Powerade Centre, we were soaking wet again, but as the skies cleared, baseball was back on despite the flooded diamond. Trevor and I weren't out there long, for we were wearing warm-weather clothing and the temperature had dropped quite a bit, so we picked our way across the oversaturated field and attempted to go inside.

Well, the volunteers were setting everything up inside for the 4:30-6:30 service, so they weren't allowing visitors inside the building. Even as more cold rain came and soaked us again! We found Dave Drinkwalter and he tried to get us in, but even he didn't have any powers over them! He got a dry blanket for Trevor and we headed around the building, trying to find some entrance unguarded by volunteers. Trevor wanted to give up and just go home, but I wasn't about to! We finally got inside and wandered around a bit.

The rain and wind slammed down again, this time with absolute fury. It brought hail with it, and still baseball went on! I was really beginning to wonder if God even liked baseball when the games ended and the soaked-to-the-bone teams came inside to get dry. Even I hadn't dried off yet! The Uptown Alpacas lost their pre-championship game, but I say that is ONLY because of the crap weather!!

The clouds cleared once more, and the giant potluck/tailgate party quickly set up. I think it would have been a much larger affair had the weather been nicer, but they still had lots of neat stuff. Nikkol and I got these amazing cupcakes that looked like soft-serve ice cream, for they were in real ice cream cones and were covered in pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles. There was a hidden section of M&Ms and jelly beans at the bottom of the cones, too! THEY WERE THE MOST AWESOME CUPCAKES EVER. I must learn how to make these for mine and Nikkol's birthday! Trevor had pulled pork for the first time and loved it, and we all got awesome hot dogs from a vendor.

Then there was the worship service, where Bruxy and Tim spoke for a bit and showed videos of people who couldn't make it congratulating Meeting House on 25 years. There was live music and I felt like I could sing my soul out. It was marvelous. There was even a hilarious Christian parody of Usher's "DJ Got Us Falling in Love Again", which I partially recorded on my camera.

We didn't stay for the dance party afterwards, as all of us--including Phil--were exhausted and still rather wet. Part of me really wishes we had stayed! I hope there's another grand One Roof event sooner than 25 years down the road!

Now I'm looking forward to going to the Toronto Zoo with Nikkol and her sister on Friday, then to the Yorkdale Meeting House on Sunday. Yeee!
