On Sunday, on the hotel cable (Syfy, if I remember correctly), I caught most of Prince Caspian. Do not get me started on this film. The plot loosely followed, key character development was changed, and all right, they attempted to "explain" Susan. But most of the point is you're not supposed to be "explaining" Susan.

That's not what I'm wondering.

See, I grew up reading these books. I received a box set - published order - when I was six. I still have it. I can remember curling up with these books, and reading them by flashlight long after bedtime. I continue to argue you should read them in the published order.

You can see the world build on itself. Sure, there's pieces not explained right away, but the point is, it is explained. Perhaps richer for it. Things fall into place, both in the world and in your head. You get to have those 'aha!' moments, the 'I remember thats'.

What do you think?

Published or chronological?

questions of craft, these books mean something, books vs. movies, childhood memories
