Not much going on. Or a lot going on. Or something. I haven't posted in quite a while.
I'm back in Ann Arbor, no school tomorrow, yay!!
This weekend's been pretty good. I came down on Friday, and the roads weren't bad. Friday night was kinda depressing because nobody was around, so I played xplorers online for a while and then just went to bed. Saturday was great. I got up and went to Tai Chi in the morning. (I was about 10 mins late, but oh well.) I got to wrestle/spar with Frederique, Sang had us practicing trying to get out of headlocks and body grabs. THat was interesting. I didn't get to spar with any of the guys this time, but that was probably just as well, because Joseph managed to get a klonk on the head and they were worried about a concussion. At least it wasn't my fault this time! I ran into Fred in the library after I got back from class, and hung out with her before she had to go babysit. Saturday evening I started playing xplorers online. I decided to allow replacing bots, and someone actually joined my game. Through the course of chatting during the game, we discovered that he's from Greece, he loves snow, he's a public school teacher who teaches music from middle school thru college, and he has school off on Monday too. That was just really wierd. Towards the end of the game, Charmander joined in. Now I know nothing about Charmander except that he seems to like spectating my games. But I won the first game with Kostas (greece-man), and then started a new one with Charmander. That was the most *civil* game of xplorers or Catan I've ever been in! C is obviously young, I'm guessing 14ish tops, and he went for revenge on the bot rather than stopping me from winning. :-j I didn't get to finish that game, though, because the wireless cut out on me. So, Fred (who was back from babysitting) and I went to the nest, and stayed there till about midnight. :)
I was late for church this morning, because I overslept a tad. My bed was so nice and warm compared to the rest of the room... oops! After church was Div.Shep's annual Chinese New Year's Dinner, which was delicious! But that sent me into food coma, and I napped until 4:45 when Nate called me. I'm glad he did, or I'd have slept late and not left on time for Sang's birthday party. As it was, I still left late, and got there about 10 minutes late, but everyone was still waiting in the entryway. We waited for probably another half hour before our tables were ready. I got to sit by Mike Ellsworth, that was interesting. I'm glad he's good at making up conversation, because I'm not, and I never knew him well while he was here. Joseph was sitting directly behind me, that was dangerous. He threatened to cut off my braid - I said if he did I'd then choke him with it. :) Sang was sitting across from me, and his various family-types were at the same table. The conversation for most of dinner consisted of beer. That was interesting, but nothing I could contribute to. :-j Joseph went camera happy when dessert came (so did Sang and Alicia), and since I was sitting right by him, he kept taking pictures of me. I warned him it would break his camera, but he didn't listen. As people were starting to pack up, Amanda and Alicia talked Sang into taking flame-shots with them. That was fun to watch. Amanda decided she didn't like the taste of whatever it was they were drinking, so they offered it to me. It tasted like licorice! I gave it back, though, because I had to drive home and I didn't know how strong it was. Later, I ended up finishing Alicia's for her. Oh well. It doesn't seem to have affected me, I'm not as sleepy as I get with wine... I just have a nice taste of licorice in my mouth. :) Sang was then amazed that I drink; somehow he missed that over the summer. Actually I think he just forgot, because I remember him being amazed over the summer, too. Oh well! Kaya was adorable as always, but she's gotten so big! She learned to say my name at one point... as Curry. Well, that's like Kari! :) She promptly forgot it again anyway. Oh well. I'm flattered that she tried. This is one of those situations where I wish I knew all of these people better; I love them all dearly, but I'm not really part of their group and I wish I were. I feel left out whenever the tai chi people start reminiscing, like I dont' really belong there. And I really want to belong with these people... I started getting there this summer, but now I'm off student teaching so I still dont' see them. :( At least I had today...
Tomorrow I need to do some lesson/unit planning and pack up more stuff to head home. It'll be sad to get back into work stuff, but this was a good weekend. I'm glad I came.
